Ok where to start! My bf's friend found 3 baby kittens under the floor in his farm house that he just bought. Im not sure their age but their ears are flat and they are just starting to get playful and running around and they have sharp teeth and playingly have tried to bite my finger! ouch! anyways, i have been feeding them KMR and about 17 ml each per feeding every 4 hours. I also potty them right after feeding. They have terrible diahrea!!! It is awful! I am going to start weaning them but there diahhrea is just so bad i dont know if i should try to wean them yet! This is gross but there poop is really runny and is bright yellow like a mustard color. Also, after I feed them the 17 ml each after feeding them they are still hungry and keep crying so i dont know what to do! Ive read that overfeeding is really BAD. I know if i take them to the vet it is going to cost so much and i can barely afford to buy KMR as that is also expensive! If i have to i will take them but i would like to get some advice first just to see if it might help!

Kittens will stop eating when they are full. They could have worms, that could be taking the nutrients from them so they are more hungry. That could also be causing the lose stool.

Thank you very much for the quick reply! I will see if i can take them to the vet tomorrow. They have had diahhrea for about 3 days so as it is seems like it isnt clearing up im going to have to take them to the vet! It is late now so do you know if there is anything i can do tonight to help the diahhrea until i can get them to the vet tomorrow?

Overfeeding is indicated by a loose stool. Reduce the strength of the formula by diluting it 1/3 with water.

You probably want to visit this site:

http://www.safehavenforcats.com/

and look under the caring for newborns section...lots of good information there.

17 ml is quite a bit, but it depends on their weight. Have you weighed them to find out how much they should be getting?
If they are running around they are probably ready for food, but make sure they have water too....
and of course a vet check is a good idea as they probably do have worms....

Usually yellow diarrhea, is indicative of coccidia, or a bacterial imbalance in the bowels.
Kittens can go down hill in a matter of hours if they get dehydrated. Keep a close eye to make sure they are drinking. You can check for dehydration with the pinch test on the neck, but it isn't an accurate on young kitten. The best way is to take a cotton ball and stimulate the kitten to urinate to see how dark the urine is. If it is dark, it means dehydration.
If dehydration does occur you can begin using pedialyte, diluted by 50% water. Only get the clear kind, or it can stain the fur. Do this every few hours, if it is needed.
Take in a stool sample to your vet and they can diagnose what the problem is and give medication. Also try and get correct weights on the kittens so the medicine dose is accurate. Begin weighing at the same time each day, to make sure none begin fading.
If the kittens are very bad off, they should also be seen by the vet. I am not a huge fan of taking in young kittens, but there are times when it is needed.
Please keep us informed.

I advise bottle (or syringe) feeding until the kitten turns his head away, or spits out the nipple. They know how much they need.

And watering the formula, or giving pedialyte is a supplemental fluid. (We had one poster who feed pedialyte only for a few days!) They still need the formula.

Best of luck with your babies. The odds are not good for motherless kittens, but it really sounds like you are doing all the right things for them!
