Hello. I am very concerned about my 10 year old cat. For the past ten years he was a perfect litter-box user. Recently, he has started relieving his bowel movements in the living room. I make sure that his litter-box is clean, so I don't believe that is an issue. Last year we did get a new kitten, but they get along very well. Any ideas?

If he is only deficating out of the litter box, its a fair bet he does not like sharing with his new roomate. You may want to invest in another box.

Anytime you see a major behavior change, it is good to rule out any medical condition first, especially in a 10 year old cat. Having a separate box, even in another location may be helpful...but first make sure nothing else is wrong.
