I posted about the poison cats. Our Neighbor has put out Mothballs in her shed while getting it ready for anew generator this hurricane season. The door was left opened. Does sweeling of paws come into play here? We are going to go to the vet in a little bit and have already called the info forward. Any experience or suggestions here?

Mothballs are certainly poisonous! I found this:
Mothballs cause liver damage in kitty cats if ingested and can be fatal as a result.
Symtoms of mothball toxicity may include:

* vomiting
* seizures
* lethargy

Prevention

Always store mothballs where cats and other animals cannot get to them.

Look for mothballs that contain "paradichlorvos" as they are safer than mothballs that are made from 100% "naphthalene".

Which kind are her mothballs?
I also found the following link:
http://www.forestcats.net/mothballs.pdf which explains a few more symptoms.

Please keep us updated, I'm thinking of your kitty cats. I hope the vet can help them.

she wants to keep the cats from spraying in her shed I believe though I really didnt press her on that . She is retired rather aged really and overll very sweet and means well but she admidts to just hating cats. Not dogs , wood chucks or owls, just cats. Weird. NAture or nurture I wonder. Anyways my wife went outside to pull in laundry and saw her scurrying to the shed and cleaning up the mothballs. So at least she is trying to take a positive safe action .
fever, rear legs dysfunctional, higher fever derhydration, no appetite then swelling paws. that is the order of symptoms over about four days.
