Hi cat people,

We have a problem with our 6-year-old spayed female, Koko. We brought her as a kitten into our house in which we had an older cat, who died less than a year ago. Koko never had any issues with this other cat, although she is peculiar in her own way - she doesn't really seek affection except in a very limited way, mostly keeps to herself. She's indoor-outdoor via a cat door and spends lots of time outdoors. About a month ago we brought a new kitten into the house, and Koko has flipped. From the getgo she refused to enter the house - she now stays outside, comes to the back door to be fed, and snarls viciously when she sees the kitten. We've tried luring her into the house with food, she crouches, growls and hisses, then bolts as soon as kitty comes around. We are in the midst of 3-day rainstorm, so I brought her into the house and have her confined to a large room that kitty can't enter. She snarls and hisses at us when we enter the room (though she does not bite or scratch us). This aggressive, rejecting behavior, and her refusal to share space with new kitty has not changed in intensity for the entire month. Any ideas for us to try? Is this a lost cause? Thanks!
