Well, I posted my situation a while back about looking for a house with my fiance and my fiance being extremely allergic to cats. We found a house that has a big screened in porch for my cat Annabelle to live in. She has been an indoor cat her whole life. (she is 3 yrs old) While our house has been being built, I have been letting Annabelle out on our apartment screened in porch so that she will get used to it. She really seems to love it out there. So this weekend is the big move. I bought Annabelle a bunch of soft kitty "cubbyhole" looking things and a jungle gym. I also will bring some blankets from the old apartment. My roommate has a cat too. We got them at the same time. My concern is how Annabelle is going to react to a)not having the other cat there and b) new life on the screened in porch. She is a pretty independant cat but has been very needy lately. I think she knows something is going on with all of the packing going on. By the way, we do have plans to keep annabelle in a bathroom/garage on really cold nights (not many in Charleston) or really bad weather. I guess i am feeling guilty for making her move out on the screened in porch. It is however really nice with a fan and soft furniture out there, and lots of room to play and run. We are going to spend a lot of time out there with her. My poor fiance has been sick as a dog while staying with me the last few weeks. He wakes up every morning with swollen eyes and goes to sleep everynight sneezing and blowing his nose. He had a nasty reaction to his allergy shot this past weekend. Yet he still plays with Annabelle! I just hope the transition is smoother for her than I am thinking. We are planning on getting a dog in October for her to have a companion. I feel so guilty when I look at her these days!

A dog? They're mortal enemies unless brought up together, or very incidentally friends - one of ours loves our dog, but the others are terrified and hate him. BTW, none of my business, but has your fiance tried just something like Reactine or Claritin on a temp. basis? Shots are peculiar sometimes. You do sound like you're doing a great job at preparing A's new home. Don't upset yourself because once she realizes it's HER place and hers alone, she'll be very happy to have it.

Thanks for the reply! My fiance has tried Claratin, Zyrtec, etc. He just has a really bad allergy. He woke up this morning around 3am in a sneezing fit! Annabelle has been really affectionate these last few days. Last night we came home and the cats were snuggled next to eachother. THey havent done that since they were kittens. Its as if they know what is about to happen. It is really breaking my heart. My soon to be ex-roommate and I have talked about playdates for the cats. Do you think they will recognize eachother after they have different smells or will they hiss at eachother? The big day is Saturday, and I am praying Annabelle will take to her new home and be happy in her screened in porch!

As far as the dog situation, When we get one, the dog will be in the fenced in backyard and annabelle will have the screened in porch all to herself. I am hoping that after a while of being able to communicate through they screens, they will learn to like eachother or at least tolerate eachother. Maybe this is just wishful thinking!?
