I was curious if there were any Serval or Bengal breeders around Louisville or Southern Indiana. I've been looking for a male of either of those breeds. Not for stud, though.

Try http://www.kittysites.com.
The site lists breeders of all cats by location.

Are you sure you want a male Serval? This is an african wildcat that reaches 45 to 50 lbs at maturity. You may need a permit to own one where you live.

Maybe you meant a Savannah. That is a hybrid cat, usually a cross between a bengal and the serval.

Good luck with your search!

There is an upcoming CFA Cat show on the 20th of this month in Elizabethtown ky. About 30 minutes from Louisville. I am sure you could meet alot of wonderful Bengal breeders there. I will be there also, If you need directions, pm me. I hope you find what your looking for, Dawnde

CFA doesn't allow bengals to be registered or shown. It would have to be a TICA or ACFA show.

Yup, that's right...CFA doesn't allow any cat breed that came from a wild x domestic mating...however, it would still be a good idea for you to go to the show just in case you fall in love with another breed, like, hmmm, Abyssinians???

I had no idea they weren't allowed to be shown in CFA, We always have Bengals at all the shows I have been to, Weird. Maybe it was something other than cfa as well? not sure why I seen them there then....

Egyptian Mau's and Oci-Cats look somewhat similiar to bengals, as they have spots. Maybe you saw them at a CFA show? CFA flat out refuses to allow Bengals (their loss...booooooo CFA), so if you saw bengals it must have been a TICA show.

Hmm, Maybe so, I will check at this show, I know at the Dimes & Dollars show there were Bengals there for agility. I am very interested now, Why are the not allowed in Cfa????

The answer can be found here - I would presume that the same answer would apply to Savannahs too...

http://www.cfa.org/faq/faq-breeder.html

But, I've copied here for you just in case...

Q. Why is the Bengal not in the CFA breed list?

CFA does not recognize the Bengal as a breed, and has not been approached by a group of Bengal breeders to do so. However, it is our understanding that the Bengal breed has some "wild" or "non-domestic" cats in its recent heritage, and CFA currently has the following policy in effect. This policy would most likely have a negative effect on the acceptance of the Bengal as a breed:

"The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc., does not encourage or promote the breeding of non-domestic (wild) cats of any species to any domesticated cats.

Furthermore, The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc. will not consider for registration the offspring of such a breeding."

I did mean Savannah. I got the serval and Savannah switched around. And thanks for the sites!

And I'll try and make it to the show! Not sure how it'll work out right now.

I'm planning a trip to great Lakes to see my boyfriend's Navy bootcamp graduation! =D
