Hi,

Just after some advice about weaning my month old kitties.

One of my 5 kitties happily eats kitten solid food, the other 5 are not interested. How can I get them to eat? The one who does eat, has been doing so for 5 days now, but the other 4 just walk in it!

The same kittie (I Guess he's just clever, he's also the oldest in the litter) uses the litter tray really well, the others just eat the litter and play in it.

I really need them to start on the solids' as Lucy (Mumma Cat) is going in for spaying in 2 weeks time.

Im feeding them a supermarket kitten food, are there any other foods I can offer them to get them more interested?

Thanks in advance

All kittens will develop at a different pace. Most aren't ready to wean until they are about 6 weeks old. Once they reach 6 weeks old, you can either mix some kitten milk replacer with dry food to make it soft, or you can mix the milk replacer with baby rice cereal. The easiest way to do it is by putting some on thier paws or whiskers so they get the taste of it. Even with mom being spayed in 2 weeks, as long as she goes back to her kittens when she comes home, she will still be able to nurse to make the trasition easier.
With the litter box, You just need to confine them to a small area and make sure mom can use that litter box as well. The easiest way for them to learn is by watching mom.
