Hi all...need your advice...
My friend had a litter of long haired kittens and I fell in love with a little grey and white girl who is 8 weeks old. I have always wanted a long haired kitten.
After much thought, we decided to adopt her and call her Olivia...i'll post pics soon...be warned she is too cute! We have Gizmo (9), Tinkerbelle (16 months) and Tinkerbelle's 4 kittens who are six weeks. We have the time, love, space and means to look after 7 cats...feed, vaccinate, insure and neuter them.
Olivia has been seen by a vet, given worm and flea treatment and vaccinated.
Ok here's where I need your advice....
Olivia and the kittens get on great.
Olivia met Tinkerbelle and Tinkerbelle continues to hiss and growl. Little Olivia is not a meak kitten and hisses back and doesn't run away. I understand that some hissing is normal..but is there hope that all will be ok between these two?
Tinkerbelle shows no sign of attacking Olivia, but the hissing and growling is constant whenever they are near each other.
Olivia met Gizmo. Gizmo just wanted to smell her and seemed quite welcoming, but ran away when Olivia hissed at him. Which is strange because Gizmo is top cat and accepts no nonsense from the other kittens.
Do I separate Olvia from the rest? Or just leave them to it and just observe?
Update: a few minutes later, Gizmo has come up and is trying to sniff Olivia. Gizmo seems quite calm actually. But Olivia is hissing when he comes near...understably, all is new to her and Gizmo is a pretty big cat!
