I am about 99.999999% sure my cat is preg. She would only be about 2 1/2 weeks now and know she should go on kitten food when preg and nursing but how far along in the preg. should I start her on it?

And HOW do I keep the other kitties from eating it as they don't need it, expecially my fat cat!
They all have free reign of the house (for now until Angel is close to delivery and then we will find a room for her, either mine or my oldest daughters) so hard to keep them from eating each others food........

If you are certain she is pregnant...it woudn't hurt to start her on kitten food now. I would begin to feed her the kitten food in the room you plan to secure her in once she is closer to her due date.

ok I will wait a bit to be 100% certain........ I "think" her nipples are changing but could be wrong. She should start to show in another 1 1/2 weeks and I am going to try to get her to the vet to have them check, and think that is around the 24th of the mo. it says a vet can feel them (from the first day she got out).

hmmmmm tough on the rooms. We have to find a way to hang my daughters bird cages up so the cat can't get at the birds if we use her room. And I still have to get a waterbed cover (so she doesn't put a hole in it) and convince my hubby to use our room if we have them there. My daughters room is bigger (long story) so she may be better off there. BUT she has to keep it kitten proof first!
good way to get her to keep it spotless. So think I will work on those things while waiting to find out for sure. Then start the kitten food in there a couple times a day so she gets used ot it. She HATES when she is locked in a room and just tries to scratch to get out so will be good to get her used to it. she stayed in my daughters room when she first came home so it is very familiar to her.

I Think The Kitten Food Thing Is Overrated, I Was Told With My Cats First Litter To Start Kitten Food And Her Kittens Were Too Large To Deliver Herself, This Time I Only Fed Her A High Quality Cat Food And Introduced Kitten In Her Last Week To Help With Nursing, My Vet Thinks That A Quality Food Is All You Need.

I strongly disagree on starting a pregnant female on kitten food early in pregnancy. Kitten food is very high calorie and cats gain weight quickly. You DON"T want a fat pregnant cat cause she will have problems with delivery and taking care of them.

Its recommended to not start the kitten food till a few weeks before she's about to deliver - like 2-3 at the most. If you don't know when she was bred, then I'd wait till about a week before she's due. After the babies are born, continue feeding mom the kitten food - she will need the extra calories then - not too much before delivery.

With all my females they didn't get the kitten food until 2 weeks before delivery and then continued it till kits were weaned.
