Momma is looking pretty thin. I was looking at her from above and she looks so skinny. I leave dry kitten food out all the time, and give her an 8 0z can of wet kitten food 3-4 times a day. I also give her KMR. She doesnt always finish her wet food, so I know Im feeding her enough. Should I increase the amount of KMR maybe? I give her the amount it says to on the container, i think 3 teaspoons of powder.

Anything else I could give her?
Thanks in advance!

I guess I don't have enough background. I'm sorry if I haven't been keeping up on your situation...there's so many future momma-cat stories on here lately!!!

How far along is she? How old is momma? Or does she have her litter now, and she's now looking too thin?

Oh Im sorry...Momma had her babies 1 week ago. She had 7 babies which are all doing really well. She is just looking pretty thin lately, too thin I think.

I noticed that Chloe is also very thin! I just figure that its because shes nursing 5 babies and maybe after they get weaned she will put more weight on.

What kind of dry food and wet food are you leaving down for her? Does the can or bag say it is suitable for pregnant or lactating queens?

After carrying 7 kittens, she is bound to appear skinny to you now. She has lost the extra bulk of the kittens and I'll bet her little sides are looking rather caved in ... just feed her lots, let her eat as much as she wants and keep an eye on her babies for non-sufficient weight gain. If she is having trouble nursing all 7, then start supplementing the kittens to give her a break. You don't have to completely take over, just do two or three feedings per day to give Momma some off-time.

tazzie looks really skinny too, but she had 7 babies in her too, so she lost ALOT of kitten. And nursing all those babies must be hard work. I keep an automatic feeder of dry food for her, that way she never runs out of it, and give her treats and fresh water often. By treats i mean wet food, raw animal fat ( beef is a fav) and kitty treats.
I think its just being used to seeing them pregnant, then... no kittens, just mom left, because even my moms kitty whos never been caught looks skinny to me now.

After having 7 kittens in there 9 to 10 weeks she was stretched out. Now she is thin but am sure after nursing slows down she will look better.

Thanks everyone for the replies!

I have been feeding her Wellness kitten dry and wet. Maybe she does loko so skinny because im use to seeing her so big. It just seems that her sides go in more then they should. he doesnt look sickly just thin.

Oh also wanted to add I have never dewormed her, since i got her while she was already pregnant I was told I couldnt deworm her. Now that she has had her babies is it safe to deworm her or should I weight till after the kittens are weaned? I honestly dont think it is worms though, i work at an animal hospital and have seen lots of cats with worms and I just dont think she has any.But it wouldnt hurt to get her dewormed if it is safe for the babies.

Ask your vet clinic about the best time to deworm her.
