Arg, so spring is here - and the ants are attacking my bathroom. Oddly enough, they haven't come into the kitchen yet, which is where we had them last year. I sprayed Raid all over last summer in the kitchen and living room where we had them, and had not had them since - but that was before we had Harley.

I need something powerful to get rid of them and to keep them away. I know I could use Raid in the bathroom and not let Harley in there - but I'd rather use something I know is going to be safe for him in case he gets around it.

Do you have an ant or bug problem? If so, how do you deal with it? I hate them! I feel so icky!

Yes, we have them too. I use some kind of ant killer dust. It does a pretty good job. I just sprinkle some of the dust around on the counters and other places that I have seen them and leave it overnight. Since my babies do not get on the counters, it is safe to leave til morning and I just sponge all that up. And wait until I see them somewhere else.

Needless to say, the ant problem will not be resolved until the ground dries up from all the rains that we have been having.
I will be anxious to see what everybody else uses.

I had one at another apartment. I got the ant traps, that you stick in the corners. My at-the-time roommate had cats and they didn't bother with the traps.

Use Borax and sugar. Mix it together and put it in a container lid (like a sour cream lid). They take it back to their nest and the borax does them in.

We used it when we had ants all over our fruit trees when I was a kid. Worked great... and probably healthier for the kitties than Raid... although I never looked to see what kind of effect Borax would have on them.

I have the exact same problem. I did find a few in the kitchen, but so far they are mostly in the bathroom. They attacked a jar of sugar scrub that I have in the shower. I will try the borax!

I cannot function properly around ants. I'm so glad we don't have them. I remember when I was little hiding in my closet because we had ants in our house.

We get the same
Hundreds of the little

They haven't put in an appearance yet this spring, usually about June time they start to swarm.

The kitchen seems to be very popular place to hang out and they also have found an entrance into the bathroom. But i know where they are coming from now and will pour some ant poison down the hole then block it up with sealant, that should sort the little..... out

As for the kitchen we use ant traps in the cupboards and under the cupboards, well away from the cats.

I would love to have an ant problem. Instead we have scorpions. I am sure Phenom has been stung by them (they aren't poisonous) but she insists on playing with them. That and we have these HUGE black spiders outside in my flowers.

They aren't big. But they are annoying. I can handle them better than the HUGE spiders outside!
I usually start screaming for lee everytime I see a spider. Although the first scorpion I found wans't a pleasant experience. I was about to jump in the shower and in the bottom of the tub there it was, waiting to get me!!

i've had some this week - they seem to be wanting water
this morning i had to completely clean the water fountain because the ants had invaded it - bypassing the food altogether! i use a spray because i want them DEAD immediately! i also had to wash the floor since there was spray there & i didn't want the furkids to step in it

baking soda

Did you say baking soda? How so?

I had a bunch of ants ruin a whole bag of dry food that I ended up having to pitch because the ants took it over.

They were in my dishwasher yesterday, just sprinkeled some of the ant dust and then ran the dishwasher with extra hot water. This morning they are gone.

They will come up through the drains to get in to where it is dry. They said all the rains, is what is drawing them to the inside!!
