I posted earlier about the mother cat moving her 2 week old kittens under the bed, apparently she was not happy in my bedroom so I moved them into another room that was completely empty and off limits so that they could have their peace and quiet... when i checked in on them later today there was some yellowy/mustardy stool with a little blood in it and of course the kittens had climbed through the poop and are now a mess... I rushed a sample to the vet and they just called and said that there aren't any parasites in the sample and the Dr. is gone so I have to wait until tomorrow to talk to him

I NEED ADVICE PLEASE.. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME WITH KITTENS!
Can I clean off the kittens, or let Momma do it?
They are nursing and everything, Momma seems to be keeping a good eye on them... should I just leave them and let her do her thing??

Here is a link to my troubles with blood in kitten stool...

Mine were 5 weeks old. The first poo sample showed no parasites, but I took another sample in a few days later, and it showed roundworms and tapeworms. Once I dosed them with Strongid, all but one quit having the bloody poos. I dosed her a second time, and she healed, too. Many people advise routinely giving a dose of Strongid (for roundworms) at 3-4 weeks. Ask your vet about it tomorrow. The Mom cat would need to be dosed, too.

If the babies are still dirty, help Mom by wiping off with a warm washcloth...be careful not to chill them. Give them clean bedding, and most likely she will be able to get them clean and keep them clean.

I have had 4 litters in 2 years (fostering), and the bloody diarrhea freaked me out, too. I would never ignore it, but I hope it is something simple like worms for your babies, too!
