I have a litter of kittens. They are nine weeks old. All of their wieghts have been fine until now. I noticed one of my blue point females is much thinner then the others. I took them all to the vet last week for their first round of shots. The vet said that she was 1.6 lbs which was a little on the small side but still within normal limits. He listened to her heart and said it was fine. They did a feline leukemia test and it came back negative. Right now I am isolating her with mom and feeding her wet Neutro Kitten food to help her gain weight. I think that she might have lost weight from last week. I am concerned. Has anyone ever heard of a nine week old losing weight. Could it be that her sister went to her new home two days ago. She still has her brother. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is wrong and what I should do to help her gain weight.

Boy, I don't know from a health perspective, but is she quite active? I seem to remember a "gangly" age where they grow in size but not weight. So they actually seem thinner because they're growing...

an ice cube in Iowa...
This is quite small. Steuben was 1.7 lbs. at 7 weeks...and my vet advised that I "put some meat on his bones." At 10 weeks, she should be near 2 lbs., if not over.

Keep on providing small wet meals to her, about 4-5 times a day. Make sure the other kittens can't access her food.

How many kittens were in the litter? We had 8 kittens and at 8 weeks I had two that were just over 1 pound. I think the larger the litter, the smaller the kittens so to speak. Now they are most of them bigger than their mama!
