Just want to know those who let their cats outside how do you know when or whether your cat has 'been' as in pooped?
We let our cat out throughout the day as much as he wants and he hasnt done anything in our indoor litter box poop wise for 2 weeks but he seems to have gone off wet food so we have only been giving him dry now so how do i know if he is going outdoors or maybe hes constipated? Are there any signs of constipation?
He could possible be doing it on someone elses alwn but theres none on ours so im not sure.
Its so hot here in and theres no way of keeping him in to check really.

He is going outside. Does he appear to be straining or act like he can't go? Does he look swollen in the belly? My guess would be that he is going outside. You may also consider making an appointment to have him checked out if you are concerned.

I agree that he's probably going outside! Plus, you won't find it in your garden as cats tend not to poop in their own back yard!

If you are worried, though, a vet visit wouldn't go amiss - even just to put your mind at ease!

MIne use their litterboxes as well as outside. If I have doubts about any particular cat I keep that one in when I am here and watch for the signs until something happens.

Same with my lot. They really do prefer Mother Nature's litter box, and mostly only use the indoor ones if it's particularly nasty out.

If I think something is "off" with one of my in/out's ins and outs
I would keep them in for a day or so. Mine mostly go out, but the youngest one likes to come in to use the litter box
. I have a "wet" bathroom rug I have to wash tomorrow because I kept the oldest one in for a day and a half after her yearly shots because she was sneezing, and she's mad
(me too now!
). You might want to confine them to a room with the litterbox, just in case (I forgot
it's been a while- if it's raining, she understands, which makes it "her choice"
).
