Probably not many of you remember the foster babies I had a couple of years ago (my first feral babies), Briar, Buttercup, & Scout. I was able to find homes for all three with various co-workers. Unfortunately, one of these co-workers (who took Briar...my favorite) suffered a personal tragedy, but is doing better. I had told her during this time that if she needed me to, I would be glad to take him for awhile. Well, now that things are getting back on track, she and her husband are going to go on a weeks vacation, and she asked if I'd take Briar for a week!
I'm so, so excited!!! She's bringing him early Friday! I haven't seen him for a year and a half...apparently he's huge now (he was about 4-5 months old when I placed him).

I hope he and JinJin can get along well, though.

Here's a picture from the "old days"...isn't he gorgeous?

Wow, Kelly, Briar is so gorgeous!
This will be a special time with this little boy whose life you've already influenced so dramatically. Sure hope he and JinJin get along wonderfully, and am looking forward to seeing new pictures of him!

I know! Apparently he's enormous! I knew he'd be a big boy. I had taken one of the other kittens to the vet (trapped at different times). When I brought Briar in, the vet was shocked that he was from the same litter,

Me too. But I'm not expecting it. He'll just be here 8 days...I just hope he doesn't hide the whole time.

Thanks Laureen...I'm glad you remember him.

I've been busting my butt getting ready for him. You would think that I was planning for a visiting dignitary or something!
Really, though, I've been trying to "cat proof" my house. JinJin has never bothered anything, or even knocked anything over. From all reports, Briar is not so well-mannered.

Well, he's been here for four days, and man am I tired!
JinJin has proven herself to be an ardent defender of her territory...a trait I had not seen in her before. I initially put him in the "kitten room" where all of the foster kitties start. He wedged himself under the radiator for about 6 hours, then decided that that sucked and came out. I introduced them, and things went so-so...they kept their distance, which was fine. It worked until he played with her favorite toy...yow! Fortunately there have been a couple of very brief scuffles, but no true fights.

JinJin kept haunting him...following him around and giving him the "dead-eye stare" trying to intimidate him. Then he'd growl and hiss. I put the hammer down on this behavior yesterday through firm tones when necessary & lots of happy baby talk when they were behaving. It has helped.

Hats off to those of you who have added a second kitty to your household. He's only been here for four days, and I'm over it!
Don't get me wrong, he's great, and a huge love bug, but I can't yet enjoy it. I also understand the behavior...they're just being cats...but sheesh!

I have only taken a couple of pics, but I will post them when I can. Hopefully when they relax a bit more, I'll have more opportunities to take more.
