Just thought I would share my lastest stroke of brialliance with all of you.

My dad purchased an acerage not far away from us with a neighbor. We got 1/2 & he got 1/2. The neighbor rented part of his half to a guy with horses. The guy renting the other half asked dad if he could put a pen up on our part & put his horses in there during the day. Dad agreed. That way, we have to mow less often & the horses have more grass to graze.

Today, I dove to the acerage to pick up some more posts for the cat tree I am making(finally getting around to it). The horses were complaining & right near the fence, so I decided to walk over & pet them(I already made sure they would be OK with that). I tripped on my way over, & naturally, reached out to break my fall. Too bad the only thing w/in reach was the electric fence.
Sadly, it's not the first time I have grabbed an electic fence(or the 2nd, or even the 3rd for that matter...).

I told dad that when I got home. He laughed & told me now I don't have to spike my hair, it should do that naturally.

I have a natural tendency to do stupid things without realizing I am doing them, just so you know.

Under the cats, mostly.
Sweetie, you're not the only one to have moments of brilliance like that. At least you were trying to stop yourself suffering from an accident. I SAT on an electric fence because I wasn't looking at what I was sitting on. I had a purple stripe on my butt and the palms of my hands for about a week!!

Oooh, that sounds painful. I'm happy to report that I have never touched an electric fence nor have I ever even seen one

I was a dumb kid. We used to touch the fences with different things to see if it would still shock us...Leaves, sticks, shoes, rocks. I had a friend who was even less intelligent then me touch one with a metal rod
yeah, he got burnt

Awe, that really sounds like it would hurt. I am thankful I haven't touched one yet. I'm scared of them LOL.

Poor thing! I know how you feel. When growing up I would stay with my great aunt everynow and then, and right behind her land there was a pasture with a couple horses and donkeys. I would try to sneak in and ride them, lol. I was determined to get on this donkey, I did, and well, he didn't want me there. He decided to use the electric fence to scrape me off his back. No fun. haha!

Glad to know I'm not the only clutz that does stupid things. It's like my brain isn't working at all sometimes. All well. At least it makes life more interesting!

Trouts mom, you have no idea what you're missing in the rural country life. It's a blast!

Anybody ever gone bull chasing?
I have. Never once got hurt(by the bull). I got cut on the barbed wire fence many a time, though.

And this is why I should never have kids!

Yeah, I've been "bit" by the electric fence a few times. The last time was probably abouit a year ago...man that smarts! Then I had to look around real quick, hoping no one saw how stupid I was!

I used to do it all the time!
What sucks is when the bull gets tired of being chased and chases you. I have gotten stuck in a tree for an hour or so MANY times when I was a kid. Try explaining THAT to your dad!

I never had to explain anything like that to dad. He was always the one who suggested it!
Life's not worth living if you don't have fun! I've done some things that people would think are insane, but I would NEVER jump off a bridge or out of an airplane. I guess it just depends on how you look at some of those things.

ouch! i have done that...a few times
the first time i was checking some property with a friend, there had been a big storm and some tree's were down, we were just walking along and one second i was next to her...the next i had jumped a metre away or more....i didn't realise what had happened at first because the shock confused me but i had trodden on a downed elecrical fence, i had a dull ache in my body for the rest of the day
.

the next time was stupid, i was with some j**k of a guy who told me a fence wasn't electric, i said i didn't want to touch it but he was insistant so i trusted him and did it, it was electric and it hurt like crazy....he was a bit sadisitic though or sick

i'm actually a real clutz, i bump myself everyday without fail, it's become so common that i hear Jeff laugh when i do it now......some days i will go through the whole day without doing it and think nothing will happen but then once again i'll bump my foot on something...i bruise easily too which isn't a good thing.

i haven't chased bulls but i did try to pet a calf once, the mother was somewhere else and another cow was looking after it, she didn't like me getting close and charged at me, i dove under an electric fence to escape but it missed me by a few centimetres. ...luckily.
