As above. My cat will be 1 year old on the 15th. i have had her for about 2 weeks. and right now she is eating about 1 can of wet food everyday. i also have a bowel of dry food out for her all the time.

She is kinda skinny to me but then again my moms cat is about 11lbs
i have not put her on a scale but i would say she is less then about 5 lbs. I want to put some more weight on her and fill her out. but i dont want to make her un-healthy.

Here are some photos i took with my cell phone sorry they are not great. if you want a different view please let me know

Sounds like more than enough food. The packages should tell you how much a cat should eat based on weight and age.

Since you've only had her 2 weeks, have you had her checked for worms, or dewormed?

Yes she has been de-wormed... she is eatting fine. the can only gives feeding info for cats over 5lbs. and as you see in the pics she is not 5 lbs. so her eating is not a prob. i just dont want to under feed her or over feed her.

another thing is i dont know if she should be called a kitten or if she should be called a cat. she will be 1 year old on may 15th.

One year old? Definitely a cat.

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear shadow_kitty's cat (you didn't say her name),
Happy Birthday to you!

I misunderstood, thought you were asking why she seemed so skinny, which is why I asked about the worms.

her name is Shadow. She is all black but 2 white lines one on each check bone. So this is why i am asking how much i should feed her, she is just turning a year old and not the 5 lbs that the can says to feed. so i dont want to feed her too much... but yet i want her to fill out some.

i know kittens you should feed them as much as they will eat but she is in-between stages i guess

I think maybe your misjudging her weight. I had my kitten to the vet (we just took her in, have had her about 4 weeks now) and they said she's 2 ounces under 5lbs and between 7-8mos old. And she was REALLY SKINNY....I mean almost a skeleton. When she'd sit curled up, her hip bones would be seriously protruding outwards. And the vet told me to feed her anything she wanted to get her weight up, that she should be about 7-8lbs at her age/height. She said to give her anything until she hits a year, then cap off and only feed her standard amts. Also, she told me to give her kitten milk to help with vitamins, since she was so malnourished.

I would have the vet weigh your kitty when you get her spayed. And she is lucky to have a meowmy that cares so much about her!!!
Keep us posted!!!!
