I'm really worried, because the Mother keeps moving the kittens from the cat bed and puts them on the floor under the bed, so they are just wandering around and not with Mom... is it OK or should I be doing something?? Am I just being a worry-wort?!

I think you need to put them into a bathroom or in a large size dog crate to kep them safe a little longer.

I live in Rochester NY in a 2 bedroom apartment.
I agree, I would put them in a large box or a rubbermaid storage container with a nice blanket in there to keep them warm. 2 weeks is very little to be roaming the house freely or even the room. Our kittens started trying to escape around that age so we just made their nest escape proof by placing all of their bedding in their and they were in there and safe and happy. Plus the Mommy was not happy at all that they were trying to run around at only 2 weeks.

When queens move their kittens around like that, it is usually for a reason. Most of the time that reason is that she feels there is some sort of threat there. It may not be something we see as a threat, but as a cat she sees things differently.

Are there other animals around? Are there children around? Is there a lot of people traffic where she is, or a lot of noise from the outside? Is it a very bright place? (that can be solved with a cover over the box). Is it chilly?

She needs to be in a place with her kittens that is quite and darkish and isolated and fairly quiet, which is why she is probably pulling them under the bed.

I would suggest cutting a cardboard box to put under the bed for her that will let her in and out but high enough to contain the kittens for another week or so, or perhaps a closet left a little open? If you put a box in that, it might work fine.

A cat bed is not what she needs, it probably is not high enough to contain the kittens, and might even be too soft (another reason she might be moving them). This is the age they are begnning to learn to walk and gain strength in their legs, and it's very difficult on a soft mushy surface.

Get a cardboard box, fold a towel or two to put in it, and then 2 or 3 layers of paper towels (which makes it easy to clean, just replace the paper towels every day).

Good luck.

Thank you sooo much for the responses.... Momma was in our bedroom, so I think that maybe there was too much traffic, she kept moving them under the bed so they were just wandering around and making a mess, pooping on themselves and such, soooo, I put them in a cardboard box with a blanket and moved them into the basement bedroom where there is no one, I think she'll be more comfortable there by themselves.

Is it normal for the kittens to make such a mess at 2 weeks pooping??? Should I be bathing them, she just can't seem to keep up with all 5 of them...

Sorry so many questions... these are my first kittens
