Alright, here's the problem I have. Amos and toby (shown below) were dumped next door at my grandmother's house. They like to roam all over, and they tend to be VERY reluctant to come back. Last night, Toby didn't come in at all, he stayed out all night, despite being called many times........

Are they neutered? If not you will not stop their roaming, neutering stops the need to go find a female and mate.

Actually it depends on their "domain". Neutering stops their need to find a female but they will continue roaming if they had some kind of territory. My Wawa used to wander off after he was fixed. He got into a lot of trouble with the intact stray toms, neighbor's dogs and probably a mean human or two
so he wisely decided to limit his territory to mommy's home and garden.

There are 2 male strays I have recently had neutered. I only see them when it is feeding time.
The rest of the time they are off somewhere.

Well domain or not you don't want them to be outside if they aren't neutered. So either way, neuter them first as this is the first step to solving any problems. If that doesn't help, maybe just keep them indoors.

They are neutered, but we can't stand to keep them in because then they claw things up and make LOTS of noise. We try to go out with them because they tend to stay closer then......

I wonder if he has found another familily and alternates between houses. There may even be more than one. My old cat in germany was a "shared" cat between us and a neighbour.
