feeding off mother is this the time I can give them their new homes?

also how will the mother react when I start taking them away one by one?

how will the other kittens react when one is missing?

I wish I can keep them all but I cant. We have a 5 y/o already. we are keeping the mama and one kitten which makes 3 cats total!

thanks for your feedback

its usually recommended that a kitten stay with its mother till at least 8 weeks of age, but 10-12 weeks is even better so that kitten can learn important stuff, such as how to use the litter box, from its mother. You really shouldn't have a problem with the siblings or mother missing the kittens as they leave as this is what happens in "the wild" the kittens eventually go off on their own

they are already using the litter box. good thing is we know the people who are adopting them so we can see what they look like when they grow up.

Do try and keep them the extra week or two if you can - if a kitten is taken too early from its mom it can develop behavioural problems like obsessive licking later. It is not just a matter of physical things like eating and pooping - they need to know how to be cats and how to socialise, and the mom really teaches them these things best.

before I met my wife she got her cat at about 5 weeks. she is 4 1/2 years now and still kneeds on us...she also has to have something in her mouth while she does this "trance" like kneeding ritual...like my shirt. do adult cats kneed? does the shirt represent a nipple and maybe she didnt get enough of her mom?

I think you've hit the nail on the head! she was definitley taken away to early, like I posted before 10-12 weeks is best to give to their new home
glad you found them good homes! is Momma to be spayed now?

Kneading combined with sucking or licking is certainly one of the obsessive behaviours that can result in leaving mom too early, though some cats do these things for other reasons. My Ellie sucks obessively on me whenever she can, and other members here have had similar experiences.
