hello
ok i have a problem
my cat i think is pregnant as lately she has put on weight, excessive weight, she feels extremely heavy when i pick her up, she also is eating a lot which she never has had a big appetite and she is what i call nesting, she burries herself underneath quilt covers quite frequently and likes to lay at the back of our sofa a lot, which is unusual to me

she had a litter nearly 2 years ago which was only 1 kitten which i found strange, anyhow she was took to the vets and she was examined the vet which was a woman i never felt comfatable around at all told me she was carrying more kittens but they could have died which i was ok about all i cared about was that my cat was ok , she had to be operated on and i was asked at the time if she was ok to be neutured i said yes as i obviously didnt want anymore kittens anyway as i kept the one she had and that was enough they did they operation and told me they werent anymore kittens which made me extermely angry as my cat was put through hell for nothing
the place i took her to mentioned nothing about the neutering at the time which i found odd

to me she never stopped behaving like she was still on heat, she still cried really loud to go out and never stopped jumping on windowsills

i rang the vet this morning and was told from the records that she had been neutured and she could possibly have worms

but i dont get how a cat can be sooo heavy when she has worms and thats all

they was wrong when they told me the kitten was a female when it wasn't it was a male

im just really confused as to what's going on

Oh...believe me...a bad case of worms can look an awful lot like a pregnant cat. We've had a few cats in our rescue we thought were pregnant, but turned out to be full of worms.

Sounds as if they performed a spay at the time of the c section. I would definately take your cat into the vet...make sure they have the correct information and verify their diagnsis of worms. If she is still acting like she is in heat...there is a chance they did not complete the spay and will have to go back in.

thanks
that has kinda put my mind at rest
maybe it is just worms

its just that when you have a had a pregnant cat before you sort of know the signs

is there any other symptoms cat's can have when pregnant?
is it possible the neutering didn't work?

Gives good information on the signs to look for if you suspect your cat is pregnant.

I've "heard" of spays that were not complete..but have no personal experience myself. Best thing is to describe your cat's symptoms to your vet.

I'm thinking if you take her to the vet, you should take her to a different one, the other one sounds like a dolt

i took her to the vets who said her temperature was high, it was 103 so sounds like she wasn't very well whatever was up

anyhow she felt her abdomen and said she could feel something in her stomach but it was too early to tell

she told me to keep checking her stomach over the next couple of weeks

but what i wanna know is what do i look for exactly? what does it feel like? as last time i never knew she was expecting at all so i never got the chance to feel anything

the kitten she had previously i kept and im just wondering how he will react to the kittens? if she is pregnant

If she is only having 1 or 2 it will be hard to fell till she is ready to pop. Skittles is having at least 9 so I can feel hers but I can no longer count because they are so big. I felt small bumps that are super soft. Just do not squeeze very gentle or just let the vet do it. Her nipples will stand out. You will notice them.

I would try a new vet. She should have been checked further to find the reason for the weight gain and the fever!

Is her male kitten from the last litter neutered? If not, he could have fathered this litter if she is pregnant.
