I always have to check to make sure every one's in and not locked in the bathroom. Then I tell them "Be good kitties!" on my way out the door. As if!!!!

This is too funny! I go through the same routines - check air conditioning or heat, make sure lights are turned off, coffee pot off (check this twice), curling iron off, blinds just right so there is light in each room, and finally, locate both kitties to make sure they are safe and okay. Then I tell them I love them and to stay safe and cozy.

What strikes me is the habit of locating them before leaving. As I was doing that this morning, I actually thought to myself, "no one else probably ever does this"!

I also give all three of my kitties treats and search out Isis (since she eats nothing but her dry food), give them all kisses and tell them I'll be home later and to be good and stay safe. Heck I'll go as far as to tell them when their "daddy" will be home! (does this mean I'm crazy!?)
I also check the front door to make sure it's locked, I make sure all the lights are off, I won't leave the washer or dryer running if I'm not here to watch it, so if it's going, it gets turned off until I get home.
If it's raining hard, I'll close the basement door so Luna won't get wet if it does leak into the basement. (she tends to run down there if there's a thunderstorm, and sometimes it will leak if the water runs just the right way)
Then the whole time I'm at work, I worry about them. I'm such a worry wart!
I could have written that myself, all the way down to the leaky basement!

I check to see where they are whenever I leave the house. When I am home and they are not in the same room with me I go looking for them to make sure they are ok!!

What a relief! I'm not alone!

I do a "kitty check" every day before I leave and I have to know where they are before I walk out the door. Is everything unplugged? I know I checked that already but I'll check again. Is the bathroom door closed? Yes, but I have to make sure it won't open if someone pushes against it. Is everything turned off? Yes, but I have to touch the burners on the stove to make extra sure. Do they have food? Yes, but CC eats a lot so I'll add more just in case.....

We sure love our babies, don't we?

Me too. I did this everyday for a semester and half and then I thought I was crazy because I kept them in my pocket at all times so this one day I just decided to close the locked door without checking and I ended up locking my son and I out and I missed a midterm. Now I never think I'm crazy for checking lOl

I totally do this too. Both my husband and I will admit to being OCD but we actually went out once without this weird routine and came home to find we hadn't locked the door and it had popped open. Our critters aren't allowed out so we were terrified...but there was our Kitty Escape Artist, under the car snoozing, little dog guarding the doorway, and other kitty snoozing inside. Angels were protecting them that day! But we don't take any chances. I pick up threads, anything that they might swallow that could hurt or choke them...
