When I'm leaving my home, I always check on my kits. I have to literally see each of them before I leave. (you know, to make sure no one is stuck in a closet somewhere). ALSO, before I leave, I check the stove to make sure is off, I make sure cupboards are closed, etc. I just have a little routine that I go through each morning. We were talking about it here in the office, and someone called me obsessive compulsive. I don't think so at all! I just want to make sure everything is ok before I leave!

I do the same thing - I make sure that everything is off (one day I left my hair straightener on for 8 hours - oops!) and that Harley has food and water!

I'd just hate to come home to a burning apartment or a hungry kitty - both are pretty serious!

Yes, absolutely. They get tartar control kitty treats right before I walk out the door. That way I know just where they are. Then after I lock the door I sometimes check to see if I really locked it. Why am I admitting this?

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
I do this. I give them their 'sweeties' to make sure I know where they are and also to make sure they are away from the door when I open it.
I sometimes go out, shut the door and stand there thinking 'What have I forgotten?' before I walk away. Or I'll look through the letterbox to see what they are doing

I totally do that too!! I can't even leave until I see where Trout is in the apartment. She has this weird habit of hiding when we go to work , so I always have to search for her and bribe her with treats to come out.

And even though I don't ever use the stove in the morning..I always check to see if its on too

I do the same thing, I check the food supply, water dishes, cat location, I make sure windows latched and closed, I check the fridge and freezer door, the stove units. I unplug the coffee maker, toaster and microwave and lastly i lock the door and check it twice to make sure its locked. I am paranoid and afraid to leave the cats without a super inspection every day.

I do the same thing and always make sure I know where each of them is before heading out the door. I also make sure everything turned off, unplugged etc... to be sure they can't get into any trouble, although they sometimes find a way to do that anyway!
Then, last thing before I leave I give each of them a snuggle, tell them to be good and that I love them.

I make sure I have my keys. That usually makes me pause for a second or two.

I'm not even going to admit to what I had thought it was that you asked.

We use the back door which leads to our patio.
I check to make sure no one is bug hunting on the patio and are all safely inside.

I have to do a quick dash through the house to make sure everything is turned off, then I give the boys a treat and tell them goodbye and to be good (if they don't come for it I have to go find them), then I have to check to be sure I have my keys just before I shut the door. I don't think it's obsessive/compulsive...it's just making sure everything's in order before I leave.

pretty much all the above!

I set up routines for myself:

At night, clean up the litterbox and give them fresh water

In the morning, give them full bowls, their treat and a pet and/or kiss on the forehead before I go.

And yes, I do double check the door to see if I've locked it. The sad thing is there's been too many times I've walked away thinking I locked and really didn't.

My boys are still too agressive to eachother - and Sherm still has kitten food. We have to keep Shermie in my room all day with his food and water. Once he graduates to adult food he'll be let out. So yes, I guess I do check them - I have to to put Shermie in his room. KC always seems to be there waiting at the door to say goodbye... (my cats have their own routines anyway.

Oh my gosh I do that too! Plus I check all the outlets in the main rooms the girls can get into, all the locks, all the faucets, etc. Good thing my house isn't that big! Plus I have to give them love and reasure them several times that we will be home soon!

Here... or There... Hmmm
OK, I do it too... Though the only one I do is having to see Kitters before I leave. (But I also check when I get home too, like she has someone disappeared into thin air) And again before I go to sleep. Twice, I couldn't find her before I went to sleep, and then I go through thinking she got out when someone opened the door and I'll start balling. My husband will tell me I'm silly and that she is just hiding and sleeping and thinks that me calling her means she did something naughty so she's just hiding out! After at least a half hour he will get me to lay down to go to sleep and within 3 minutes Kitters will walk into the bedroom, like "hi, mom, did you want me?". I've even opened can's of Tuna, shook cat treats, jingled her toys.. and she still wouldn't come out of hiding! What a butt-head!!!

LOL! I've put those baby outlet covers on my outlets that aren't in use because I don't want the kitties to get hurt on them! Glad to see I'm not the only one who checks those!
I also give all three of my kitties treats and search out Isis (since she eats nothing but her dry food), give them all kisses and tell them I'll be home later and to be good and stay safe. Heck I'll go as far as to tell them when their "daddy" will be home! (does this mean I'm crazy!?)
I also check the front door to make sure it's locked, I make sure all the lights are off, I won't leave the washer or dryer running if I'm not here to watch it, so if it's going, it gets turned off until I get home.
If it's raining hard, I'll close the basement door so Luna won't get wet if it does leak into the basement. (she tends to run down there if there's a thunderstorm, and sometimes it will leak if the water runs just the right way)
Then the whole time I'm at work, I worry about them. I'm such a worry wart!
