Really!!

We don't know where this male bird came from but it is going on its 3rd year of hanging around!! The neighbor's whose yard it hangs around the most-well we agreed where does it spend the Wisconsin winters as we never see it.
The problem is that the "sound" it makes sounds alot like a cat!! But it only does this at night-like 2:00 in the morning!!! It wakes our small neighborhood up at night! My neighbor thinks it roosts in one of the many trees by the creek. But as no one is feeding it (who knows what they eat anyhow!) what is it eating?? I would like to have someone come in and trap and remove this bird!!
Who would I call?A wildlife sanctuary or the zoo??

I would start with a wildlife sanctuary. If they don't do that, maybe they can tell you who would. Peacocks are beautiful, but I understand they can be aggressive and destructive left unattended.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Because Gil lives in the highlands of Scotland it's the norm to see a peacock walk along the side of the road. I'm not sure what they eat though?, but i would have thought a wildlife sanctuary would be the ones to ring.

Wow Gail... I hope you can find someone to capture the peacock for you!

Meanwhile... I think you should snap a picture of it for us! I think they are beautiful.

Yes, peacocks are beautiful!! I would say call the wildlife sanctuary first, and see what advice they offer. Could it be that some one had it as a pet once and it got out or they just let it out? They do make a awful crying sound, I know! Good luck in catching the darned thing...

My friend had peacocks and when they would get loose, she would call the humane society. If you want to PM me I can give you the name of the guy from here, and even though you don't live close, maybe he can refer you to someone in your area?

Find out where it roosts.
They are easy to catch.

Wait till dark, shine a flashlight in his eyes while someone grabs his feet.
Same as catching chickens.

By the way, no zoo or wildlife center is likely to want it.
Catch it yourself and take it to a shelter, some farmer will eventually adopt it.
These birds are extremely expensive, and it may be possible for a shelter to track it's owner providing they had the bird banded.

There's a town in the uk (cant remember which) where several male peacocks showed up.

This divided the town into 2 camps, those who loved and fed the peacocks, and those who couldnt stand the noise.

A year or so later 5 peahens 'mysteriously' appeared (an old peacock loving woman was thought to be the culprit) and they began to breed. Now apparently there are flocks of them!!

Dont they eat seeds, nuts, worms, insects, plants and berries? I think they eat most anything.

Oh yeah, and duh, my friend has a bird sanctuary in her back yard. If you catch it, maybe she'd want it? Her other one just died last week...

That sounds like she was meant to have this homeless beauty.

I totally love peafowl, I hope to be able to purchase a pair of India Blue or Java Green once we get relocated.

my mom always told us you could catch a bird by sprinkling salt on its tail.
of course, if you're that close...just grab it!

I actually would call the zoo. Only because we were at the zoo the other day, and there were peacocks in the parking lots, near the roads by the zoo, and just plainly all over.

I dont think they keep very good track of those beauties. It's probably from the zoo. And if you contacted the zoo, Im sure they would have the right references as to where to call if it's not thiers.

I talked to a person that lived on the other side of the creek. He said he had a male and a female but he gave to his brother when he sold his house. He knows they still have both. It didn't make a sound until about 4:30 am (who needs an alarm clock!!)

That is so funny!!! I can just see someone outside at night in PJ's with a flashlight trying to bling this thing in it's eyes and then grabbing it's feet!!
Too Funny!!!! In Philly you catch chickens at the ShopRite...they're right next to the turkeys!!!
If you use your price plus card you can sometimes get them on sale! You never have to use a flash light!!! ha! ha! ha!!

My son's daycare has about 10 of then roaming free. Males and females. They like to sit in the trees above the parking lot and yell "heeeeeeeeeeelp" when you're pulling in. That's a wake-up call if you're still drowsy at 7 am! I had one of them jump in the back of my truck a month or so ago and did his "mating dance" for me while I was trying to get him out
I'm not even going to repeat what the daycare owner said to me when he was doing it!
