Hello! My name's Penny. I'm 22, and I'm about to adopt an (approx.) 10 week old, orange, male, kitten. I'm pretty excited about it as it will be the first cat I have ever had as my own.

I've been to visit him a few times and he's a loving, curious, adorable, little ball of fuzz. He's a little rascal too though with his brothers and sisters, and recently I've gotten reports that he's quite the climber!

I'll either be bringing him home today or tomorrow. I'm waiting on a cat carrier to bring him home in. My parents are letting me have one of thiers, but a friend borrowed it so I will have to get it back and give it a thorough cleaning before it's ready for the little tyke.

As far as names go, I think I'm going to call him Dozer.

Anyway, I'm very grateful to have found this forum. From the little bit of lurking I've done over the past few days, everyone here seems to be very friendly and helpful. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Welcome Penny. We're excited to hear how things go with you and dozer. And with Dozer being a kitten, you'll have a lot of stories about his antics.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I'll have to get a card reader for my digicam so I can show you all pictures of Dozer when he gets home.

Hello and welcome to TCS. I can't wait to see some pictures of your baby!!!!

A good place for a person with a new kitten is either the bahavior forum or the pregnant cat and kitten care forum. I hope to get to know you better soon.

The only thing I can really think of is to drink TONS of water. Seriously. It's very easy to get dehydrated. Try and keep a bottle of water on you at all times. If I knew the area(s) you were going to be in, I'd let you in on any attractions I know of. Other than that, I guess the only thing else I can say is try and catch an unobstructed view of the sunset and late night stars. I moved to New Mexico from Virginia 5 years ago and the view of the stars at night still blows me away.

I'm visiting Albuquerque and Santa Fe. I'll keep the stars thing in mind. I wonder if it would look different from where I live. There is hardly any light pollution in the sky here so i often get a great view of the stars and the northern lights, especially if I go up to my lake.

Thanks for the water tip,

kallie
