Hi, my lovely year old cat is pregnant, Not taken her to vet as canto afford it and she seems rather happy, to the point, in the last few days her stomach is showing obvious movemtn which resembles someone playing the drums on it from the inside :P and can distinctly feel the kittens, but since we have not seen vet we dont know a date, we have arranged a nest for her which she loves we just dont know how much longer it will be. If anyone could give me advice as to how long they think she has left it would be much appriciated. Megan

I would say that you have around 2 weeks give or take from the time you start to feel movement..

Congrats on your upcoming babies!

I don't want to worry you at a happy time, but would like to give a little advice. If you don't already have a regular vet, I would phone around now and get to know someone, just in case anything goes wrong and you need help in a hurry. Everything usually goes fine, but there are people on these boards who have had kittens and momcats in serious distress during birthing, and the last thing you need is to be looking for an emergency vet at 3.0 am. It is a prudent safety precaution. And then you know who to go to later for check ups and spay/neutering etc. Good luck.

Megan....is your cat an indoor only cat?? If not, now is the time to curtail her outdoor activity. She will need to remain indoors only until she has had the kittens weaned and can be spayed. Please make this her only litter as the longer she goes being intact, the greater her chance for cancer and pyometra.

Keep us posted...oh and definately keep her indoors only once the kittens are born until she has been spayed. It will only be 6 weeks, but it is the only way to ensure she doesn't become pregnant again.
