Quick question: PJ is getting all dandruffy again (she's been checked out and is fine; she's older, has a very thick coat, and it's summer in the south - aka shedding season), and I didn't know if Vitamin E helps with this at all or not? We add it to her food when she has acne flairups and it works well.

If not, I know omega 3 is good for coats too. Do I get the human grade (i.e. from the health food store, where I get her lysine), or is there a particular supplement made for cats that I'd find at a pet store which is better?

She's eating IVD dry, with Nutro canned - which she's been doing for years.

Thanks!

Vitamine E is good by itself, dandruff or not... So proceed with the vitamine E and Omega-3 project as you began, cant hurt and will do good in one or both ways...

Of course not all dandruff is same. Some dandruff may be because of skinparasites...

I use and recommend Missing Link Feline Formula for my fatty acid supplement- available at health food and better pet shops.

I too recommend Missing Link suplement as a wonderful way to treat not only dandruff but also help keep shedding to a minimum. All 5 of mine are on it and it works great! Although make sure to keep it in the fridge after opening-print is very small on back of package and hard to find, but it is a MUST to keep refridgerated.

Nope, there's nothing wrong with her skin... she's in perfect health except for hyperT (which is finally managed), and being a little flaky, both in her fur and mind sometimes!

I've got Vitamin E already, but I'll get some omega 3 as well.

I had tried this with my first cat, and it didn't seem to do much, so I never tried it with PJ. I guess I will!

I know it can be put in food, which works for PJ, since she eats canned food. My other cat would definitely benefit from it (he hates being groomed, but loves to shed and clean himself...), but he can't eat canned food. What are some other ways to give it?
