Okay, two actually.

2. Do you have a dimple in both cheeks or just one?

Hey Kelly, have you ever suffered an injury to a part of your body that possible resulted in a cast or some type of immobilization for a period of 6 - 8 weeks?

OMG, I go out of town for a weekend, and this is waiting for me...I can't leave you kids alone for a minute!
Thanks for nominating me Deb!

Congratulations and have a fun week!

A few questions to get you started:

1. What is the best part about your job?

(For those who don't know, I'm a Labor & Delivery nurse) I think it's getting to know different people. In my job, you get to meet people at, usually, the happiest, and most personal time in their lives. You get to know them really well in a short period of time, and you get the honor of sharing in the joy of the birth of their child. Not a bad gig, huh?

2. What's the worst?

Well, we all know that life isn't always fair. Bad things happen sometimes. Sometimes babies die, either before, during, or after birth. That's the hardest part. You share, to a degree, the grief these people are suffering, and it does hurt.

3. What is your absolute most favorite food in the world?

There's a hot dog stand here called...are you ready for this..."The Weiner's Circle". They have, hands down, the best cheese fries on the face of the planet...not that melted velveeta junk...real cheddar!

4. Chicago or NY style pizza?

Even though I live in Chicago, and I may lose my key to the city, I have to say new york style
Chicago style is to bready/gooey for my taste.

5. What kind of car do you drive? If it is not your dream car, what is?

I drive a Honda Element, and I absolutely love it! I'm not the "dream car" type, so I don't lust after cars. My car suits my needs, and has put up with a lot of crap from me.

1. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world who would it be & why and what would you serve them to eat?

I could get all high-minded here, and pick someone who has changed the world, or is a great thinker, or something. Yeah, that's not going to happen. I've actually given this question a great deal of thought, and I came up with an answer that actually surprised me. George Clooney. He's not someone I would normally give a great deal of thought to, but he always struck me as someone who is probably a really good date (he's had a lot of practice!), like he'd make you feel special, even if it was just for an evening. It's been awhile since I've had an evening like that! What would I serve him? Oysters? Tequila?

2. What places have you been on vacation & what was your favourite

I've been to Las Vegas, New York, Florida, Jamaica, Bahamas, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, & Ireland, and various other states within the U.S. I have two favorites, Hawaii was fabulous, and I highly recommend it to anyone! The other was Edinburgh Scotland...an absolutely beautiful city, and my favorite from my trip to the British Isles. Nothing at all against the rest of the British Isles...it's all great!

3. Favourite colour?

Purple has been my favorite for the last few years, which is weird, because for most of my life, I've like blue.

4. Have you ever tried eating a cat treat?

Nope, I've missed that particular culinary delight! When I was a little kid, though, I remember my best friend at the time talking me into eating dog treats with her!
They weren't bad...they weren't good either!

5. What do you do (in order) when you get on the computer (for leisure time)

I check my e-mail first...I must see who in Nigeria needs my help to release their familiy's frozen assets! You'd be surprised at how often they've been given my name personally for this endeavor!!! Often I'm the only one who can help them!!!
Then I come here, of course!

Thanks for the questions!

Tell us about your first cat. How did you get it, how old were you, what was the kitty's name?

Growing up, my family had dogs, never cats. My grandparents, had a very prolific cat named Mitzi, and I used to love playing with her babies! Spay/neuter were not words in the vocabularies at that time in rural Wisconsin. When I was in college, my roommate & I got a cat we named Rocky. Now, the humane society never should have given a cat to two college girls who were not allowed to have pets in their apartment! Although I take responsibility for my part, don't get me wrong. Several months later we were found out, and we had to rehome him.
I cried for days afterward. I did not get another cat until I was sure I could have it forever. I got my girl Abbie, whom I had for almost twenty years. She went to the bridge last October.

Thanks Becki!

Have you ever had any broken bones?

Well, you will not be disappointed! I was born, and remain to this day, a klutz.
I've had a total of 3 incidences of broken bones. I think I'll dole out the stories one-by-one for each time it is asked.
If the question is asked more than three times, I'm quite sure I can pull out some story of past injury that, although did not result in a broken bone, may placate the questioner!

Since you asked first, my first broken bone was when I was in the first grade. I was on the merry-go-round, and when it slows down, you have to jump off & push it, right? Well, I did that, but my right leg got caught between the seat & the asphalt. The space between these two things was, apparently, about an inch smaller than the length between my foot and my knee...*SNAP*! The worst part? My teacher thought I was faking it, and made me walk back to class! Two hours later they finally called my mother.

Thanks Deb!

I'm just going to pop in and ask a question that nobody has asked yet:

1. Have you ever broken any bones Kelly?

Story Two. Some of you may be familiar with the game "Higher and Higher"? It's where two people hold either end of a rope, at first holding it low to the ground. Everyone takes a turn running & jumping over it. If you touch the rope, or fall, you're out. Each successive round, the rope is raised. In hindsight, I suppose we shouldn't have been using a Chinese Jump Rope (elastic band used for another game), or, more importantly, not playing the game at all. What would have really helped, after I got tangled in the rope and fell & broke my arm, would have been if my parents had been home at the time. My oldest sister took me from neighbor to neighbor asking advice. My parents were finally tracked down, and I was taken to the emergency room. Again.

Okay, two actually.

2. Do you have a dimple in both cheeks or just one?

Okay, that made me blush!
I only have one on my right cheek.

Thanks Ryan!

Well, it appears that I am going to run out of broken bone stories long before the week is out!
Since you asked about having a cast, and not specifically a broken bone, I'm going to pull out a different story. It's kind of a boring one, but it did require casting, and 8 weeks of immobilization!
When I was in college, I played intramural volleyball. The guys on my team were, well, a bit competitive. Any game that did not end in at least serious bruising was a game wasted. The stakes were high to perform. I nearly tore the ligaments in my right wrist diving for the ball. It was casted for 8 weeks. It made taking notes...um...challenging!

What was your first camera? Do you still have it?

First of all...love the new siggie! Very pretty!

I got my first camera on my 16th birthday. It was one of those old instamatic cameras that used flash cubes!
It took crappy pictures, but I loved it! I no longer have that camera, though. I don't know whatever happened to it...it probably broke. Those things weren't made any better than today's disposables!

Thanks Jana!

What style socks do you wear?

Mostly white cotton ankle socks...I wear tennies to work, and a good sock is key!

If you work out, what do you like to do best?

Ooh, I'm bad about working out!
My favorite thing is the elliptical, though.

What is your favorite sweet treat?

My aunt makes this awesome poppyseed torte! I was one of my favorite things since I was a kid. I finally manipulated her into giving me the recipe a few years ago!

Thanks Stevie!

Here are some from me for today:

What type of Internet Connection do you have?

Cable Modem..long gone are the days of dial-up for me! I got the need for speed!

Do you have a digital camera?

Oh yeah! I have a Sony Mavica that I've had for several years, and I still love it!

How did Jin Jin get her name?

I always try to get creative with names when I get a new foster kitty in, and somehow a name just comes to me. Frankly, she had me stumped! Since she was a feral, and could hide so well, and move so silently, I named her JinJin after the magical invisible dog on "I Dream of Jeannie". At least I think that was the dog's name?
When I googled it, I found out it means "firefly" in Okinawan, so I named her kittens after different kinds of bugs.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I probably have about 12 pairs. I just gave away a bunch of shoes I don't wear anymore.

If it's raining do you use and umbrella or just get wet?

I have umbrellas, but I never seem to have one when necessary.
Mostly I just get wet, but if it's warm enough, I don't really mind, even though it wreaks havoc with my hair!

Have you ever taken nude photos? Did you hide them well?

Of myself? Never!
I have taken them of others. Most of them were promotional pictures for local theater...tastefully done, of course!

Do you own a DVD player? If so, how many DVD's do you own?

I do have a DVD player. I probably own around 30 DVD's, but I don't buy them much anymore (I used to buy the previously viewed ones they sell at Blockbuster). I found I was wasting money since I didn't watch most of them. Now I only buy absolute favorites.

What is your most prized possession? (Tangible item please)

I have two: my mother's "Mother's ring" and my father's wedding band. I'd be devastated if I lost either one of them.

What size shoe do you wear?

8 1/2

Do you drink alcohol? How often?

I do drink alcohol, but it's pretty rare these days. I'm a pretty cheap date...two drinks and I'm done!

What type of books do you like?

I like novels the best. They have to be really well-written, though. I highly recommend The Time Traveler's Wife. I read it a year ago, and it's one of my all-time favorites!

What is the strangest thing in your house?

Probably the clock I have that has a hula girl on top...she does the hula! It makes me smile every time I look at it!

What did you do as a child that your parents got very angry with you because of?

My brother & I were fighting, and we knocked over a bookcase. My dad was soooo mad!!! We got huge spankings for that! They used to let parents do that!
My siblings & I still talk about that ocassionally.

What is your favorite breakfast?

There's a restaurant around the corner that, only on Sunday, serves Salmon Eggs Benedict with a dill sauce. It's incredible!

Do you own a pair of yellow socks?

You know, I don't.
Actually yellow is one of the colors that looks horrible on me, so I've never needed a pair of yellow socks to compliment other clothing.

What's the most romantic movie you ever saw?

The Big Easy. I love that movie, and I had a thing for Dennis Quaid for years after!

Describe your shower curtain.

It's white sheer with stitching of a few long stem yellow flowers. I made the it myself! Not the decorative stitching, but I bought the material & figured out how to make the curtain.

What is in the trunk of your car right now? Where did you hide the dead body?

Truthfully? A pack of toilet paper!
When I was at the grocery store a while back, it was buy one, get one free. I didn't feel like hauling the extra pack up with the other groceries, so there it sits! I also have jumper cables, an ice scraper, and an atlas.

I hid the body in a remote wooded area...that's how I was taught. These people nowadays that keep the body in the trunk are just, in my opinion, lazy!

When you give a gift do you take the time and wrap it or do you put it in a gift bag?

I really try to wrap it, and make a bow...the whole bit. I only use gift bags if I'm pressed for time.

If you could increase your IQ by 40 points by having an ugly scar on your face, would you do so?

Nope, I'm smart enough to life my life happily. An ugly scar won't help my social life, and I'd be smart enough to know it!

Name a product that you would suggest to someone? (for anything)

"The Works" It's for hard water stains & soap scum...it's the best product for that I've ever found. It smells like death, though.

How long is your hair?

My hair's pretty curly, so then it's just past my shoulders. When I flat-iron it, it's probably about 2-3 inches longer than that. I just got about six inches cut off...it was way to long!

How many shot glasses do you own?

One. It was from an ex-boyfriend years ago. It rarely sees the light of day!

What channel is the TV on now? (if off what channel was it left on?)

Animal Planet!

Which of the seven dwarfs personifies you best - Dopey, Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Grumpy, Happy, or Doc?

Mostly I'd say Happy. I'm pretty satisfied with my life. I think I'm a bit of Doc too.

Do you own a pasta pot?

No, no pasta pot.

Thanks for the questions Jilly!

1. Do you shake in fear when you see a spider?

On a normal basis, no. I'm not fond of them, but I'm not terrified. For a time when I was a kid, we lived in the Southwest. I was terrified when I saw tarantulas and black widow spiders!

2. Have you ever jet skied?

No, I never have. I'll have to try to make friends with someone who owns jet skis...it always looks like fun!

3. Ever had your skirt stuck up in your underwear?

No, I've been lucky I guess. Or vigilant.

4. What were/are your grandparents like?

Oh, my grandparents were all so great! They've all passed away now.
My mom's folks were so sweet...grandma used to worry so much about everyone, rosary constantly going! Many years ago she took in a stray dog that was a ****-a-poo, whom she named...****-a-poo!
(okay, it's not letting the name show...the dog was a cocker spaniel/poodle mix) From the day she took him in, that dog never left her side! I thought the world of my Grandpa...so sweet & kind. His nickname for me when I was little was Kelly-John. To this day, I don't know why!

My dad's folks were wonderful too. In their later years, when I knew them, they had an apple orchard. Some of my earliest memories involve that place. Grandpa was tough & funny. He had a heart attack at 84 years old, recovered & went back to running the orchard a few more years...tough! My Grandma had a great sense of humor, and could bake like the devil! They had 11 children total! Makes me tired to think of it!

5. If you had to make a green salad, what would you put in it?

I eat salads all the time! Usually I make a pretty basic salad...an "everyday" salad, if you will.
It's just lettuce, green onion, grape tomatoes, and feta cheese, topped with balsamic vinegar with a bit of olive oil.

Thanks for the questions Susie! It was nice thinking about my grandparents!
