Ok, my kittie recently had 4 kittens. I gave the two boys to two of my close friends. It was really hard for me to let them go. I ended up keeping the two girls. Well I noticed that Freckles (she has a little black spot on the top of either nostrels) had black boogers in her nose. I orginally thought they were part of her markings but at closer inspection i realized they were boogers. I know this sounds gross but I cant help but "pick" them out.... They always come back though. I thought maybe she had been getting into something or I just don't know. Does anyone know what would cause that? The other boys or the other little girl are fine, they dont have boogers or anything at all and neither do my other two big cats.

My cat has the same thing and has had them ever since I got her for about a year now! They are kinda crusty black things in her nose. I never figured out what they were nor the vet.

Swanie has the same thing. The vet said she didn't know what they were, but he is fine. If you clean them out, they come back. Sometimes they clean out on their own, but they always come back. I hope somebody on here knows what they are.

My boys get these, too. My oldest didn't have that problem until we brought our newest into the family. I am thinking it could be some sort of nose allergies or something? My oldest hasn't been gettng them as much recently, and the vet brushed it off like it was nothing to worry about. I just clean their noses regularly. I think it becomes a problem when it gets to clogged up, but it doesn't seem to bother them at all. I would suggest a damn cloth cleaning once a day or so. Look up into their nostrils as best as you can, to make sure there is no major clogging.

I'm glad at least that I'm not the only one this has happend to. I was so confused. She really hates getting them picked out though but it must be done. I really did think they were part of her freckle print, you could imagine my surprise when one came off.....
But again thank you all for the feedback

Oh one more thing, If in the future there is a major clog, would I go to the vet or is there a safe way to remove them from home? She really dosent like her nose picked and squirms around alot so i don't know. I do happen to have one of those baby nose sucker things, would that work?

I have a baby nose sucker, but I only use it on my cat that has chronic huge boogers that interfere with his breathing, NOT those little black crusty things. I would suggest just using a damp cloth or qtip to help loosen those. I think it's just a combination of a little bit of boogy and dust. I wouldn't get too concerned unless your cat has a problem breathing through his nose.
