I found a kitten today in the middle of a parking lot coming out a grocery store. She can't walk .. but tends to scoot ... her legs aren't strong enough to pic her up. She has blue eyes and her ears aren't perked yet. I took her and wrapped her in a blanket and went and got Just Born Formula for her ... She doesn't really like to suck from the bottle .. she will do it for a sec and then stop .. She is currently in a padded basket next to me ... I have been stimulating her to pee and poo (she has peed twice so far) She cries every once in a while ... What else should I do????? I am attaching pics. She loves to be held close and hummed to. I want her to eat more but I don't know how to get her interested.

Oh my god, she is the cutest...I would say she's a colorpoint, and about 2 weeks old. I know others will come along who can advise (I was lucky, my kittens had their moms and I rarely had to try supplemental feeding).

Please go to this wonderful site, by a tcs member, it should answer your questions on how much, how often, and what to feed this cutie pie.

We had a litter of kittens and one of the kittens wasn't using it's back legs and we got really worried about it because the other kittens were.So when we took him to the vet he needed his bladder emptied(not just a little pee pee here and there-completely emptied),after that he used his legs properly.Maybe this is what is wrong with your kitty??? Hopefully everything turns out fine, keep us updated and good luck!

You are an angel angel3:for saving her!

At the age I think she is, she wouldn't be walking yet, so I wouldn't worry...first steps are toddly, shakey as they learn to support themselves.

Her eyes look clean of any goo or crusting (unless you cleaned some off)...I hope she's nice and healthy.

Oh, how totally adorable!!! I think I'm in love!

You may have better luck with a syringe of formula, warmed up to room temp, dripped into her mouth. You can use the kind at the pharmacy for measuring liquid medication for kids...just slowly let the formula into her mouth as she licks at it. She will turn her head away when she is full.

She is adorable!
I don't think she is a colorpoint though, too white, and usually they show at least some coloring before their eyes open.
If you can't get her to eat enough from a bottle try a syringe (no needle of course) You can get one from any pharmacy, just ask for one.
If that doesn't work, you may need to have a vet tube feed her and show you how.
Good luck! I hope she makes it, she is adorable!

We named her snowball .. she just keeps crying ... i've done everything i can think of and been to a lot of websites.

She's warm and free of drafts
She has lots of snuggle blankets
She has been fed (somewhat cuz she loses interest)
She has officially peed for the 3rd time

she just keeps crying

I could be wrong but I really do believe she's a colorpoint - I had a fair number of colorpoint kittens (some with white) over the years I was breeding Curls...look at her paw pads..if she were a white or a with white paws, they would be pink, they are not. Her muzzle is colored, and it looks as if the tops of the fur on her paws is colored palely as well.

Not that it matters she is truly just adorable. If you go to my photos of Patrick in the photo section, look at his baby pix...even older, it was hard to see his color at all because he was a cream lynx point (even at 4 months I had to show them to the judges at his first show because they were so pale)..he looks like a pure white kitten in his photo too

To stimulate nursing from a bottle, sometimes it can help to stroke the top of her head down to the base of the neck...this behavior occurs from mother cats to their young, to stimulate nursing. Otherwise, go for the syringe.

I would also call a vet ASAP, and have her examined. She'll be too young for any vaccinations, but she could have a fecal done, her weight taken, etc. He/she can also help with any suggestions on fostering her...feeding, bowel/bladder stimulation, etc. Keep her warm for sure!

You've got much more important things to be thinking about I know then what her color is, but if you want to try to figure it out..check her paw pads and her nose leather..with a white cat or a with white, the paw pads will be pink..if it wasn't dirty feet that I saw
, her paw pads looked like they are dark - either a brownish or a steel grey color. Check the color of the hair on the back of the ears, the tail - even if she were white tipped on the tail, if she's not a white, you'll see color coming in on the tail, same with the nose - the hair on top if not pure white but showing beige or pale grey...would mean colorpoint.

Has she had a poo yet?

ps here is Patrick as a very young kitten, as you can see, he appeared all white.

Check out this site for some really good advice on raising orphaned kittens:

www.kitten-rescue.com

She's probably crying because she's hungry. How often are you trying to feed her? How much do you think she's eating right now?

Try another brand, KMR is the one that is most popular. You can get it in powdered form.

Make sure the formula is warm enough too, the directions should be on the container.

What position are you feeding her in? That could make a difference also.

Also, make sure her area stays about 85 degrees. There are instructions at that site for makling something called a rice sock, which can keep the area warmer. Just the blankets might not be enough.

If you can't get her to eat in another day, please consider taking her to a vet. She seems so sweet. I wonder how she got there. Sigh. I'm so glad you found her.

I just found an interesting site that gives some techniques on what to do if a kitten resists feeding, and how to tell if the is right (the ears should bob -- I didn't know that) or not. Learn something new every day. LOL

Go to the site and scroll down to the title "The Feeding"

http://www.fanciers.com/cat-faqs/orphans.shtml

I noticed you said she was fed "somewhat." That's extremely important because kittens can get dehydrated very easily. Again, she's most likely crying because she's hungry, but probably used to a mother cat, which (as long as all other health reasons are ruled out) is probably why she's resisting. This site talks a bit about how to handle a kitten that's resisting.

You need to be somewhat persistent to make sure she not only gets her nutrients and calories, but also the liquids.

Good luck!

Here's some other good resources for orphaned kitten care:

I hope you find something here to help you out. Again, I encourage you to seek veterinary assistance for this little one ASAP!!!

I wish you the best of luck. I wouldn't let baby out of my sight...you definitely found an adorable kitten. Keep her warm, keep trying the bottle (lots of tips listed above), as it's preferable to the syringe, stimulate her bowels and bladder with a bit of tummy massage and rear end wiping with washcloth or cotton balls, burp her after each feeding, and make sure to not overfeed. Let us know how she's coming along!!!!

So that I keep this out of this thread, which needs to be about how she's eating and doing, here is a photo thread I began showing colorpoint kittens at 10 days to 2 weeks (all with curled ears as that was the breed of cat I have).
http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...26#post1160926

I do think the kitten-rescue.com site is one of the best, I hope it gives you the answers you need. And the above was a good tip, their little ears when they are nursing, will move back and forth as they nurse, like little wings flapping...it is very cute and a good sign they are nursing well.

She just had a really good feed. I found out that if i just feed her while she is lying in bed then if i hold her she feeds much better! She peed again but still no poo...

Here's a new pic!

Like you said it really doesn't matter, but I don't think it's a color point either, the nose leather is too pink and so isn't the ears, at 2 weeks there should be some color on it even if it's a dilute like blue or chocolate, but if it was some thing like lilac, it may not have a lot of color on the ears yet, but I really think the nose leather would be dark, like a color points would be
Kittens are 4 weeks in the picture but you can see the dark nose leather, which showed up almost from birth, this kitten is a blue:

These kittens are blue points or/or mitteds, mabey a little under 2 weeks the eyes are just opening, but you can still see color on the ears.

Like you said it's not important, and there is much more to worry about then the color, but since you brought up that you thought it was a color point I thought I would add a picture of my young color points.
I would love to see more pics as it gets older, I am curious whether she will darken up and is acually a color point or not.
