I am wondering as I can't figure out if I don't give Trout enough treats or if I give her too little..I usually give a couple of treats a day..Is that normal?

What do you all do?

I don't give them to her every day, but if your cats are healthy and not overweight, I don't see why not!
Right now she's on hairball treats since she's got one stuck down there! As soon as I started giving them to her I found two hairballs on the floor overnight.

Other than that I give her them (the not-hairball kind) when I want to reward her, or to convince her to like a certain spot over another (like the countertops, grrr).

The brand of treats she likes best has stinky ingredients, as do all the other ones I could find at the store, since she likes "moist" ones. I try to give them to her very sparingly, like a human should eat junk food. (I tried giving her a brand offline with better ingredients but, of course, then she doesn't like them, so they're not treats, are they?)

I give them hairball control and/or tartar control daily. I also give them random treats just for being cute

I also use treats as a bribe, mostly for Swanie. He is very interested in getting into the garage, where he's not allowed to go, and that's the only way we come and go now. So whenever I leave, there he is. He loves chasing tossed food (dry) and treats, so I toss him a treat, he runs to get it and I run out the door. I don't know which one of us is trained there. Hubby says I'm just rewarding bad behavior, but it's just so much easier.

Mine get treats as part of their daily 'exercises' they need to do 'squirrells' 3 times to get a treat and I put a few on the top of the cat tree to encourage them to move around

I give mine treats once a week, but they are part of her raw diet anyway.

My guys get Greenies everyday, hidden throughout the house.

Mine get treats after nail clipping, and zakk tends to get them after brushing, b/c he hates it!

Other than that they get them 3-5 times a week. Right now they are getting whiskas dry food as a treat- probably 10-15 pieces each. They think the junk cat food is a great treat. I got the idea when I got a small free sample of fancy feast dry- mine went crazy for it. They also sometimes get a few hairball treats as a preventative, and I also have tons of feline greenies right now, I got a free sample pack and then got a bunch of coupons! I was giving them a few of those mixed in.

I only give treats when they have done something to deserve them- usually once a day. We are always working on each cat learning a new trick or behavior of some sort and that's the only time I give them. Have to keep the treats special, you know?

Jamie gets four little treats every evening, as that usually "whets" his appetite, and then he'll eat his canned food.

I give the crew one treat everyday after refilling the food bowls. I take the time to make sure each of them get theirs as I usually do the plaque/tartar control treats.

They LOVE the greenies though. I just got a sample pack from Petco and I may start investing in them

Mine dont really like treats, and 2 are overweight, so Ginger gets biscuits when he comes in at night, and Tom gets a small amount of biscuits 'chucked' so he has to find them all and burn a few calories. The girls are both underweight, so just get extra biscuits.

Kali II LOVES her Greenies and they are good for breath and teeth cleaning. She begs for them all the time, but I try to limit them to once a day or sometimes twice a day.

Kali is persistent!!

in a pile of open toed shoes!
I give her the tartar control meow mix treats...they come in a little plastic thing shaped like a cats head...she'll come running from anywhere in the house for them. It says on the back of the container 5-9lbs get 10-20 pieces a day...she's just 5lbs so she gets 10 per day. spoiled little baby!!!

I usually give them treats once a day (about 4 to 8 pieces). Usually the hair-ball remedy or the tartar control ones. They just love them!!

I didn't give treats around here for the longest time. It took me some work to find treats they liked, and I kept forgetting

Now I use sample packages of different natural kibbles for treats, as well as dehydrated meats (right now I've got duck hearts, herring steaks, and beef liver treats). Their "junk food" treats (which they don't get nearly as often) are Feline Greenies and the ultimate junk, Purina LUV treats (the soft ones that come in a foil bag...

my kitties get treats occasionally. I used to give them treats daily but life just doesn't fit with that now. Treats in moderation can be good but also fattening. I have trouble now that Uno has chicken allergies treats are harder to find. I also think that if treats are hidden throughout your house while you are gone during the day it is a great way to keep your kitties mind active and brings out the hunting instinct in them!

I usually give Harley 2 treats a day - he LOVES the Whiskas Temptations -and I usually give them to him while we're making supper, or eating, that way he stays out of our food

Oh, and he gets them for just being cute too

I can't imagine being able to resist Harley - he's such a sweetheart. Both Bijou and Mika sit on the mat in front of the sink and stare up at me with those big, beautiful blue eyes begging for treats. Bijou doesn't meow, but Mika will make her little huffing noise (she has no voice) to get my attention. Unfortunately I can't resist them - neither can my husband so we think we've been tricked by the cats - they have been begging to both of us and we've both been giving treats. Now we check with each other before doling out treats (just like having kids that play one parent agains the other).

Thanks
He may look like a big guy - but he's just a really big baby at heart, who gets too many treats for that reason!
