This reminds me of when we visited my grandmother on her farm. We would go out to the ditches and harvest the wild asparagus. Now it is just a special treat because hubby doesn't like it. I like it lightly steamed with some balsamic vinegar drizzled on.

To be honest ive only tasted it boiled or tinned!

I think i will have to try it again eventually, same with pumpkin, it seems more appealing now... I have lately started to eat brussel sprouts! and i used to hate them till 2 months ago

That's the problem then -- tinned? ick! Lightly steamed or a couple of minutes in the microwave is all it needs, and if you've mastered Brussels Sprouts, I think you'll be fine with asparagus.

With the white asparagus what growers do this cover it with a pail or something to block out the light so it comes up white instead of green. I have't haad it that way but I should cover a part and try it!! I found a recipe for egg casserole with ham, asparagus, eggs and cheese. Also I will make some asparagus soup!!

I didn't like asparagus either until my neighbor grilled some with olive oil and garlic. Now I love it! Tinned veggies aren't anything like fresh.

Every few years I try brussel sprouts again. They're so cute I really want to like them, but I haven't succeeded yet.

I find the white asparagus way too bland, and having to peel it is a pain. I only buy the green, which is cheaper here, anyway. I usually cook it in the microwave, and serve it with Hollandaise sauce.

The green is more nutritious anyway. Mmmmm... Hollandaise sauce!

I've never had it before... never wanted to try it! Maybe I should... my mom always loved it on the grill with butter and garlic powder. Hmmm... maybe I should give it a try!

My husband was into roasting veggies under the broiler and we tried the Brussels sprouts roasted. They are really delicious.

I love mine with Hollandaise sauce as well.

Also, if you cook asparagus in water and drink some of the water, it will cleanse your system.
