Hmm, sounds exciting!! I have to say I've never watched horses race..I like car racing though. My boyfriend races his car and its really fast..I know how exciting it gets. I'm sure the horses are so beautiful to watch!

For Barbaro -what a beautiful horse-we have Saratoga Springs not too far away-& of course Funny Cide is our most famous racer in all NY sports -He was born in Saratoga-The Sackatoga gang ( his owners) come from a small town near me-was so exciting when he won the Derby -I lived in SS for quite awhile near the track & would get up early in the am to go watch the horses work out -was so beautiful with sun coming up etc.-we also went to the Fastig-Tipton Horse sales where many of the rising stars of horse racing are bought-was mind-boggling to watch the $$ signs go up to millions
& think the horse could trip going out.hurt themselves & there went the $$

I can't believe I missed the race!!! This is the first Derby I've missed in YEARS, and I missed a good one.

I did catch a re-play of the finish, though...wow, that horse ran away with it.
He might not have a problem in the Preakness, but that mile and a half Belmont is a butt-kicker...a horse has to have stamina to carry that race. But if he was steaming away after the end of a mile and a quarter, he might be able to do it. Wow, wouldn't that be cool??
We haven't had a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in '78...it's been a long time.

I agree it would be nice. IMO the only horse we have had that could have done it. was War Emblem, and he had a bad start at the belmont.

Barbaro might be able to do it. They hd him on 5 week rest, and hes just now peaking with his raceing. He had a FULL tank of gas at the end. His Jockey didnt even hit him with the crop just showed it to him. to me that says something. The poor guy had to try not to get pulled out of his saddle.

Its gonna be fun to watch. I think he can do it. He has muscle, speed, and...IMO staminia. Its hard to say with the Belmont because non of the derby winners have ever been tested at that length.
