Hello,

I have posted before regarding my adopted cat Brandon who came to me with tape worm and hook worms. He had runny stinky poops. He has been on antibiotics for 10 days due to a lot of bacteria in his intestines from the hook worms. He was wormed and will return this week to the vet for second round of hook worm meds. The antibiotics cleared up his poop issues pretty well and I gave him his last dose last night. I gave him his second dose of hook worm medicine this morning. Now he has runny poop again! My question is, do worming medications cause runny poops? I am so worried that since I stopped the antibiotics, his diarrhea has come back. Any advice would really be appreciated!

What type of worming medication is he on? My foster momma just had her dose of Strongid for de-worming and she's started having diarrhea (and passed about 12 round worms). She's stopped passing worms but is still having the runs. From what i can tell the meds are tough on their tummies. I hope that's all it is. I'm going to be taking to the vet on Monday, and it might be a good idea for you to check with them and just make sure that he's staying hydrated too.

Get a probiotic from your vets, both of you.

This will help get the intestinal flora back in order.
In the mean time, you can feed them a little plain yogurt (with live cultures).
A couple of spoons of plain, canned pumpkin will help even out stool consistancy.
