cats meow changed

ok i searched the forum and did see a few discussing a cats meow changing but all had to do with older cats or ones that are sick...so basically my cat just over night changed his meow he had what id call a "normal" meow but now he sounds like a cat with laryngitis (sp?) can they get that? he is only about 2yrs old and hes been acting normal hes eating, playing just as normal except when he does meow its just like his meow but like what id expect to hear if he had laryngitis and softer though this morning it does seem to be louder but with the raspy quality....does that make sense? i was just wondering if i should even bother taking him to the vet since hes totally normal in every other way

Sometimes Rosie has sounded like that like she's lost her voice a bit?, but it's never lasted long.
