Here is a great link.

I'm sorry you lost one of the babies. They need to be stimulated to poo and pee, unless your kitty is doing that for them. You will find details on the link posted. (I've never had bottle only babies, so don't really have the experience you need.)

There are several other TCSer's bottle feeding babies. I'm sure they will post soon. Welcome back.

Yes stimulating them to pee and poo is important. I thinkn they are too young yet to do it on their. I don't have a ton of experience however so I am not positive.

Is it KMR you are feeding o something from the vet? That really is best for them.

They should be fed every 3 or 4 hours I think unless they are complaining sooner then that, or later.

Careful that the heat pad doesn't get too hot. Rice socks work well too.

Also careful with them around your cat because they could be sick or carrying something.

Assuming you have them in a box, if you haven't made the rice socks yet, what you can do with the heating pad is put it on the side of the box instead of the bottom (and attach it so it won't slide down).

That way if there are any spots that are too hot, the kittens can move away, and the heating pad should keep the small area of the box warm enough (you can put something over the box to cover it to keep the heat in also.

Do you have any idea what the kitten died from? Did it seem ill?

How often are you feeding them? What position are you feeding them in?

How much are they eating?

...i think maybe dehydration... i am not sure at all...maybe it didnt get enough milk from the mom :/ i dont know what happened to the mom, the lady that brought it in had the story that she found the kittens, ....it seems that i think that they might have just been hers....and she didnt want the kittens so as soon as they came out...she just gave them to us at the clinic...

i have one black and white one that loves to eat ....i feed him every time he starts crying- usually when he wakes up from his nap after around 2 hours....same with the other one

i put them on their bellies and let them drink from the nipples as if from the mommy

they are eating enough to satisfy them, to plump them up just right it seems....

the black and white one loves just sucking on the nipple and then just falls asleep purring

The fact he's eating then staying on the nipple, purring and falling asleep is a good sign.

You might want to read through the site www.kitten-rescue.com. It's a great site. I'm wondering if they shouldn't be on more of a schedule rather than when they seem hungry, that site should tell you how much and how often.

Good luck with him.

an ice cube in Iowa...
If you work at a vet clinic, I'm sure the vet will aid in helping you raise these kittens...right?

Sounds to me like everything is going well, with the exception of the baby who died.

yes i just started actually....

and these kittens are my case given to me by the vets that i work with ....they have examed them fine and everything...now its my job to raise them... kinda on my own type of deal...and figure out things for my own- i am trying to hopefully become a tech there...i do everything else pretty much but give shots and diagnose

is it common for 2 1/2 wk old kittens to sleep straight thru the nite... i say from midnite til 9am . and i had to wake them up at 9am to feed....

I think you should wake them after the longest of 5 hours. They are babies and need the nurishment.. How are the babies today...
