I notice from another thread that lots of you have an iPod

A new upgrade from itunes is available at the moment but i am a bit nervous about loading it into my 'pod'.

Last time i did it the thing froze up and i had to contact the help centre which was a very frustrating experience (and expensive!).

Can anyone give me guidance on how i should upgrade the program please

Is it best to load the upgrade onto my pc first and then connect to my iPod, or do it direct from the itunes centre?

Thanks guys

I would definitely update onto your PC first! When I do my updates, they automatically download onto my hard drive so I would stick that way!

Then, when you connect your ipod, all the updated software and tunes will automatically transfer in one go!

Alternatively, do you feel that an update is essential? Often they hardly have any changes what so ever, so if you feel happy with your present version, I don't see why you shouldn't stick with it!

Thanks for that Sar

I must admit i notice very little difference on my last upgrade. My iPod works perfectly fine and i have no problems uploading new music onto it.

Perhaps i shouldn't mess with it.

You're welcome!
So long as you don't mention rain again!

That's the thing with these upgrades, you download all the stuff and it takes you from version 2.0.1 to 2.0.2!!

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

Do you want to do the daily thread today?!

When I download my updates it automatically saves to my hard drive. Once the download is complete, I have to restart my computer. Then I go to programs, iPod, and then iPod updater. I ran an update yesterday and it works fine.

I had a problem with an update a while ago and had to call them - I ended up having to get a new iPod because they just couldn't fix it, they said it was a bad file they put up and they realised but some people had already d/l it before they put the correct file up, you may have got the same file.

The new update works fine and if you are worried, you can always go to Apple's website and download the new updates and install yourself with updater rather than iTunes

There are two types of updates.

1) iTunes which handles your library on your PC and syncing with the iPod
2) iPod which actually updates the iPod itself.

I haven't had any problems with either. Just be prepared to plug the iPod after the update into a regular electrical plug instead of being docked into the PC.

Normally I download the install programs and run them locally. After you've run the install programs, you can then do as Squirtle did, run the iPod Updater program.

Thats terrible
Did they offer you a replacement as it was there fault? iPods aren't exactly cheap to replace.
