Does this mean his ears aren't open yet?

This is Bernie. We named him Bernard because he reminds me of a St.Bernard puppy. He is big and round and those ears
I love them. All of the other kittens ears are standing up but Bernies aren't. I can't tell if he actually hears anything, he doesn't make much noise at all.

sounds stupid but here me out

i decided one day to buy a hamster. i went ot the pet shop and there were so many to choose from. i eventually fell in love wiht a white one with HUGE ears. he looke dlike a fruit bat!

i named him charlie after prince charles

he never seemed to react to noise, and during a visit to the vets my vet said that sometimes larger than nornmal ears or eyes can be a sign of deafness/blindness.

it could be that your little kitten is deaf.

but that would only make him more special

He and his brother Buddy are both very quite. They are the only two who don't cry. It could be one or both are deaf. That is fine with me, we plan on keeping Buddy but we could keep both

White cats with blue eyes have the possibility of being deaf. Often a dark mark on their head will protect them from that. It has something to do with the development in utero of the neural crest. You could try and test them, but it's hard with other kittens, because they could react to the other kittens' reactions. Do you know their eye color yet?

They still have blue eyes but I imagine they will be yellow. Their mom has beautiful big yellow eyes. I just wonder because his ears hang over like a puppies
if he can hear or not

It may just take longer with him - maybe the cartiledge (I can't spell that word) is softer. My daughter's ears are like that. But her name is Nicole, lol.
You can tell about their eyes if they reflect blue or red. If they reflect red, you will have a blue eyed cat!

I think you'll have to wait till the kittens are older to find out if they are deaf. Having a spot on the head does not guarentee a hearing white cat. I had a gold-eye white that was totally deaf but I had no clue.

You will know in a few months if the kitten is deaf. Their meows will be "off key" and they may talk louder then normal.

Also put the kitten in a room by itself. Let it fall asleep then go in without waking him up and call him or clap your hands. If the kitten remains asleep and not reaction, then he's deaf.

Yes, you're right about that (having the head spot). It's so hard with cats, because sometimes they just feel like ignoring you!
It took me until they were 8 or 10 weeks old with mine to be completely sure.

I guess in the long run it doesn't really matter. I am just looking for an excuse to keep them all
I will wait and see. I sure think he is cute with his floppy ears

Definitely adorable! But then, I cannot ever remember seeing a kitten that wasn't adorable or a cat that wasn't adorable, or a puppy, etc.

He really is sweet and I too love his ears.
