Ok i think so far we got 5 or 6 babies. All but one are by her stomach, the other one is behind her rear, im wondering if I should move him to her stomach so he can find a nipple or do i just let him be and find it on his own?

I tried taking some pics with no flash but you cant see anything its too dark, once i can get a pic you can actually see I will post them.

One question, the last two or three look like they are still kind of wet, will they be ok or do i need to dry them some more?

8 now! Wow!

This is her fourth and last litter (I didnt breed her any of the times she was pregnant, I just got her and she was already pregnant)

She is a very good mom.

At what age is it ok to start handling them?

I want to clean the bedding but should I wait till mom moves out of the crate?

Thanks guys! This is so exciting!

Sydney....I would let mom be your guide..some cats have no issues with you handling the kittens right away...however some are very protective. I haven't read all your other threads so I'm not sure how you acquired her...but if you don't know her heritage and you don't know her shot history and if you have other cats...best thing is to be very careful about touching her and her kittens and touching your other cats. Handwashing is very important as to not spread diseases and I've gone so far as having seperate clothing when handling my fosters and handling my own cats. Can't be too careful.

Also..with 8 kittens...I would really get a scale and encourage you to weigh the kittens to make sure they are all getting plenty of nipple time....I only had 3 kittens and one was always trying to push the other 2 away...so I can only imagine what it will be like with a full house of 8.

I gave my momma cat some deli turkey, and changed the bedding while she was eating. It depends on her comfort level with you, though. With 8 babies make sure that the momma gets enough to eat - lots of high quality kitten food, and KMR or kitten glop if she likes it.
