Licking? Is this my cats way of saying hello or...

My cats have always licked me - I've always considered it a sign of affection, My 8 yr old (nearly 9) licks me quite a lot and his brother (who died last year) did the same. In fact Magpie (the one who died) used to bite me when he was a kitten but if I kept my hand completely still when he bit he would start licking. Jaffa (my 8 yr old) holds down my new kitten and licks him all over,

If my cats come and love on us in the bed in the morning, it is usually because they ate all the food- the giveaway is if it is more than one cat

i was with my roommate when i got him at 12 weeks old. we take turn feeding them, she has 2 cats and i have spike. he sleeps with me every night, but other than that we have equal time with all the furbabies. when my roommate tries to hold him he will squrim and jump down then come to where i am. it has only been this way for a couple of weeks, so i am wondering if it is going to get to the point that he is only going to be "my cat" and let no-one else even touch him?

our little Boogs did this - she was obsessed with my husbands feet, she always gave a couple of good "hold still" bites then proceeded with cleaning. (socks or no socks
)

Aaww, I'm jealous...Trout never grooms me..she'll sometimes give a quick lick on my hand or foot...but I never get a full fledged bath..Booo.

one of my cats baby will lick my feet for hours if i let him it really tickles but if i try ro move my feet while he licks them he will sort of bite my toes not hard just enough to say keep still

OMG, I'm so glad I read this because I wasn't sure what the biting thing was all about. Now that I'm looking back on all the "grooming sessions," I do have to say that they usually bite when I'm moving my face around. Thanks for the posts.

It's great to read about all other kitties giving kisses..Maggie is such a lover...but sometimes she tries to groom her older "sister" Charlie. It usually means the cat chase is about to begin. She pins Charlie down and starts grooming her, then someone licks too hard and someone throws a punch and they are off and running. It's cute - but sometimes too aggressive.

Maggie will lick unless she thinks I am asleep, which is accomplished by keeping my eyes closed and copious "snoring"....a pillow or blanket over my head also works. I wouldn't trade those kisses for anything!!

OK, I know my husband & I are 2 looney
tunes over our newly taken in kitten LuckyGirl
! But we can't help it! Everything she does we just think it's amazing! Especially when she licks us... she is such a good groomer, she musta had a good biological mommy, and she takes good care of us too! If you get close to her face with your face, she'll give you a few licks on the nose, and if your on the couch she's quick to hop up on your lap (mostly daddy's..he's her favorite) and clean his hand & arm right up! We just think it's wonderful!!! I know, I know, like 2 gushing idiots!!! What can I say? We're just smitten with our kitten!!!

Toby LOVES to lick me.......he doesn't lick anyone else near as much, but his brother, amos, doesn't hardly lick anyone but toby, when he does lick, he likes to nibble!

Baby tried to lick Skittles just now and she smacked her LOL. My little one said baby tried to kiss SKittles and she hit her LOL... It was to funn and to fast to get the camera...
