Hi all, I have an 11 yr. old male cat who seems to have lost his voice. His mouth is making the meow but his voice is all but gone. He is eating, drinking etc. and seems ok in bathroom areas. This just came on in the last 2 days, should I be concerned? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks !

My previous Cat Smokey (RIP) had a voice problem too. His voice started to "go" at about 11 or 12 years he started to croak and the vet told us that he probably had a small polups on his vocal cord that was causeing it but didn't seem to think it was needing surgey. I would check with your vet if his meow dosn't improve by early next week.

My Simon was the same way- hardly ever makes a peep- until he got put in that carrier!!

Thankyou, I talked to the vet yesterday and he said basically the same thing. I will give it another day or so, if no voice is back he'll need to be seen. Thanks again.

About half the time my cat meows, she just opens her mouth and nothing comes out. I have never thought anything of it though because she still does meow.
