well my kittens are 12 days old and both have their eyes open. the last one has had her eyes open for about 3 to 5 days now. i know you are supposed to keep them out of bright light but how long until they can come out of the dark? The place Kitty chose for them is in a room that is behind my moms closet and we cant keep the lights on in there or it will catch fire but there are no windows so when the lights are off it is pitch black. is it ok for them to be in the dark like that? (does my question make sence?)

My kittens are 3 weeks old and still in the closet. We take them out to play but momma wants them in there. That is a good question

Oh I'm worried now, I keep them in a cardboard box in the bathroom and of course there is a light switch I don't think we have a dark place to put them...would they be ok?

Cover the top of the box with another piece of cardboard somehow so it's like an awning to keep the bright light from shining directly down on them. That should be fine. It's the harsh bright light that isn't the best.

I don't think the dark would hurt them, but what about going to the dollar store and either getting a couple of night lights or a very low watt bult, or even a few of those round battery run lights you press? They give off very little light, but just enough that it's not pitch black.

For right now I put a towel securely on the top, not even half of the box but the part the kittens usually sleep on, it's working great.
