We're getting two male bengals in early June, they come from Aluren and Gogees lines, but we are getting them as pets so they will be neutered. However, I've always had an interest in showing cats, so I hope someone can answer my question! Would it be possible to show them in the altered or hhp groups? How does that work? I know bengals aren't recognized by CFA so I'm thinking about a TICA show that will be near me in September.

If you are buying them as pets and they ARE pet quality and not show quality then show them in the HHP section of any show (all HHP's have to be neutered so it won't matter - even in CFA).

If you bought them for pets BUT they are show quality, then show them in the altered class in TICA.

I'd talk to the people you are buying them from - they can help you better in whether the cats are show or pet quality.

IMO if someone bought a cat from me and it was pet quality, I would not care if they showed it in the household pet class (but it probably would not do well as it still would look too purebred looking).

Most of my cats were more show quality to start but the owners only wanted a pet - they had the quality to show in the alter class if they wanted. And I did have 2 different prices - my show quality was higher. Now if they bought the cat as a pet and wanted to show it later (as long as it was show quality), then I'd want more money to start with.

Are your babies show quality? If so I would show them in TICA if they are household pet quality I would also put them in TICA shows as I have heard that CFA judges don't really put purebred household pets in finals.

I don't know if they are show quality (they are 5 weeks old right now)... I'm leaning toward household pet just for the fun of it. Thank you!

Call up your breeder and ask him/her what they think and you have to ask them if you can show them also.

We are paying the pet quality price for them. If I wanted to show them in HHP would I have to pay her for show quality instead? I'm not sure how any of this works, it's just an idea I'm toying with

You would have to call her about that I don't think that she would really mind you showing them in the HHP class but that is up to her. I would give her a call and see what she says. Also on there TICA registration, if you don't ask her she might put not for showing. Well I will say for the third time give her a call believe me it will help.

"Not for showing" only means the cat is not for championship/altered showing - has NOTHING to do with not showing in the HHP class.

If you want to show a cat (any cat) in HHP, you can do so without paying "show" price.

A "show" cat is higher because the cat has the quality to earn a championship or grand championship as a whole or altered cat.

Okay sorry I didn't know that "not for showing" only meant in the championship class
