Just a question for you guys that have taken in strays/fosters. I have been given a stray and I'm going to foster him for my rescue. He's an extremely friendly cat and hates being alone. (he got so upset last night he ended up wailing most of the night and then threw up). I'm wondering when (if ever!) you guys will introduce your fosters to your own cats. Mr. Kitty (stray), is going in for vaccinations and de-worming etc tonight and then hopefully soon to be neutered. I would love to get him up out of the basement where he's being kept and get him more interaction with kitties and people.

Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't fostered cats, but I guess I can state the obvious anyway--that introductions to other cats have to be made after you know the cat is healthy and FIV-negative.

You could probably ask your vet about it when you take him in for shots.

I agree you need to keep him separate until you get him tested and vaccinated.

Once that is done, and if he is negative and all is okay, I would go by your cats and all their reactions. If they seem to get along, then go with it. If not, you have to separate them and do it slowly.
