Apple, the feral that lives behind my house, had kittens about 2 weeks ago - i knew she had had them because i had seen her, & she was no longer pregnant, but had no idea where she had stashed them. a few nights ago, we got some really bad storms [high winds, rain, hail] & i was worried about them, but helpless since i couldn't find them. the day after the storms, i went out to the garage to get in the car, & spied something on top of the lawn mower collection bag...a litter of 5 kittens! i went ahead & left them there, but had to move them yesterday 'cause the lawn needed mowing. i cleaned out the shelter on the back porch, relined it with a clean towel, folded over for cushioning, & moved the babies. she was there within 10 minutes, moving them again. not back to the lawn mower - i have no idea where they were taken. & here i thought my place was such a good one!

Silly, silly hooman. LOL, you do not have the perfect modal reasoning capabilities of a cat obviously. Ahh, I guess we'll never reach their level. *sigh*

I used to do that to my kittens, but atleast they were in the house

I used to put them in prams and little dolly cribs and the mother used to get so angry with me

well, it's pretty warm here at this time of year. i may find them in the garage again when i get home today, because it's raining. that's what the weather was like the last time she moved them in there. i'll be able to leave them there for a couple of weeks if she puts them back on the lawn mower

What a beauty Apple is, and her kittens are gorgeous!

Is there going to be anyone who can help you trap the kits when they're older & socialize them? Maybe they can trap beautiful Apple & TNR her. Since you're feeding her & taking such good care of her, she's the perfect candidate for it!

i haven't been able to find anyone who will lend me a trap
& they're just too expensive for me to purchase when i'm not going to be using it often. i'd like to neuter her & Mac, a littermate who also hangs around [not positive of Mac's sex - i haven't seen him/her pregnant, so i think probably male]. but Apple is ripe for socializing - she loves it when i talk to her thru the window, but won't come close enough for pets when i'm outside. she likes to keep about 3-5 feet away from me. until the kits are mobile, i can pet them - maybe they'll get used to me that way.

That's too bad. Forgive me if you've already exhausted your resources, but are there any shelters nearby who might lend one? I see by your profile that you're near Dallas/Ft. Worth...any possibilities there?

well, i'm actually about a 45-60 minute drive from the metroplex, possibly longer, depending on how far south i'm headed & how bad traffic is. i found a place that lends traps, but the waiting list is miles long. i'm still trying to find places that might help me, but haven't yet.
