the last apartment i had, before i bought my house, specified that a separate deposit was needed for each pet. my lease had a handwritten clause stating i only had to pay 1 pet deposit, even tho i had 2 cats. so it would be there if it was important to them.

When I read the title of this thread, I though you'd finally be coming to visit me.
lol I can't wait to see kitten pictures.

As far as the landlord thing, I don't know. Never lived anywhere w/ a landlord. I say get Harley a buddy(besides that, I wanna see pictures of new babies!)! Maybe you should spring for 2 more cats, then Harley could have lotsa buddies. How about 3?
You could have a whole zoo full!

So, do you think Harley will be pleased with a new buddy, or mad?

Oh I wish I could come and get a kitty from you!

I'm still totally debating talking to my landlord, I really don't think I need to!

We are ONLY GETTING ONE!!
I do not need a zoo!

I really hope that Harley is pleased about getting a new buddy. When he was younger, we brought one of his littermates home with us cuz a friend of ours was taking her, and they ran around together terrorizing everything - but by the end of the afternoon, they were cuddling with eachother sleeping

I know its going to be tough, but I'm going to plan on bringing home the new kitty on a Friday night, so we can be home with them both for a full 3 days.

I just hope that everything goes okay when we bring he/she home, and they get along well. I know Harley is so territorial, thats what worries me! I plan on setting up a little area in our bathroom for the new kitty, with a litterbox, bed, ect - so we can keep them seperated for awhile at least until Harley adjusts. I don't want the new kitten to scare him TOO much.

I want him to know that he's still momma's spoiled baby!

I am sure everything will go fine. Twitch has another name we use that rhymes that isn't a nice one. She is crabby & territorial, too. It took her 3 months to fully get used to the idea that Lily was staying. It took her one month before she would even get within 10 feet of Lily without throwing a fit. Twitch was 3 at the time, though. Harley is still young enough that even though he may be territiorial, I think he'll love the idea of a buddy.

Besides that, when you have 2 cats, the other one's food always tastes better!

I hope that he gets along with him/her too, I get so worried about him. I just dont want him to start peeing all over and stuff like that, if he's gonna be territorial, you know?

I'm so excited to bring a new kitten home. We've thought this out for so long, and we've wanted to get him a buddy for awhile now. But now that we've got a few credit cards paid off and we're ahead a little bit, we can afford to bring home another little one to add to our furry family!

I just didnt' want to get a new kitten and then realize we weren't ready - especially since kittens do cost a bunch - with vet visits and getting fixed and whatnot - I hope that the momma kitty has a orange baby, I'd be THRILLED!

I had a feeling you were going to say that! I hope she has an orange baby, too! Let me ask, are you thinking orange orange, or more buff colored? I personally prefer the buff ones...

I guess that nearly rules out getting a little girl kitty then.

Any colour orange works for me!

Really, colour doesn't matter - I know they are all going to be complete cuties, and it'll be so hard to choose what one to bring home!

I'm just hoping that Harley adjusts okay!

A court will look to the language of the lease and if it says cats are allowed and does not specify a number you should be safe. Make sure it doesnt say "A" cat is allowed becasue this would mean that one cat is allowed. I am very lucky in my current apartment, My landlord not only doest care I have cats he was actually trying to give me another one that was hanging around his office HAHA. I politily told him I wasnt sure how my cats would accept another addition but the real reaosn is I have to have kittens becasue I travel alot and they come with me in the car and I need good travlers and that is someting that must be trained from an early age.

In my previous apartment There was a no cats or dogs clause in the lease which I just blatanly ignored it. I jsut changed the locks on the apartment so the landlord couldnt get in so I would have to worry about him coming in. Cats are very easy to hide.

If you are concerned about it get a cat that looks similar to the one yout already have. Nobody will guess that there is more then one.

It just says "Cats are allowed....ect. Nothing about only being able to have just one!

I'm just afraid to ask, cuz if they say no - I'd be devistated! Plus, we keep the apartment clean and fixed up, so its not like we are damaging anything by getting another kitty

Thats how I look @ it anyways

I would not ask. they cant change the lease in the middle of the lease term. If you ask they may change the lease at the end of the term and include maximum numbers. My philosophy is the less you have to let someone know the better.

I'll bring it right home to you!

Although I'm not sure a baby kitten would enjoy a 2 hour ride home!

What makes you think that?

I'm pretty sure not ony would my parents be mad, but Twitch is about over her boiling point with all of the cats in "her" house right now. Not to mention a new terror of a rat(Rat Terrier) to abuse her.
