If I give Maxie a treat, she doesn't usually eat them right away. She likes to stash things away for a rainy day. My backyard is pockmarked with little holes that she's put cookies in or whatever. I found a halfeaten pigs ear in my husband's shoe. The laundry hamper is another favorite hiding spot. And she like to try out her hiding spots. She'll put something away, then try and cover it, then move it somewhere else, until she finds just the right spot. If she can't find a place up to her standards, she's been known to bring things back to me for me to put away. Cute, but sometimes gross. Like when she digs up some nicely decomposing piece of treat, eats it, and gets herself sick. Anybody else's dog do this?

Oh yeah! I had a little terrier that would stash bisqiuts left over from breakfast, under the pillows of my parents' bed. It was hilarious hearing my Dad after he found the "buried treasure" at bedtime!!

I have a little yorkie, Keltie (you can see her in my siggy) and when you give her a milkbone, she carries it around the house, with Haley on her tail, wanting the bone. Keltie will jump up into the recliner if you are sitting there and stuff the bone down beside you, or place it in your lap, look at you like "Guard it." and then jumps off the chair like nothing happened. So, SHE doesn't guard her bones, she expects you to guard them for her.
