There was this beautiful exotic wildcat, the kind that is a copper color with long black hair on the rips of its ears. Anyways, it was kept in a bedroom by itself since the woman bought it on the internet when it was 3 weeks old. So the cat was not socalized at all, basically wild. BUT SHE HAD IT DECLAWED. So they couldn't release it, they couldn't take it to a sanctuary with other of it's kind since it cannot defend itself. They said they are trying to find a sanctuary that will take it and it will have to stay by itself or with other previously owned declawed wild cats. rrgg, some people are idiots.

It is a Caracal or Caracel I forget how they spelled it.
Pronounced Kara-Cal

That is very sad.
What's even more pitiful is that the "owner" probably didn't realize what she was doing!

That is sooo sad
I LOVE caracals! The Exotic Feline Breeding Compound in Rosamond, CA has them - they are so cool! I hope that they find a place like EFBC to place it. I noticed that the caracals are kept in separate cages, although many of the cats, such as the fishing cats & snow leopards & black panthers share large cages and are very social. Here's their website:http://www.cathouse-fcc.org/. Sorry if this seems like a "thead-highjack" but the docents at the center are really for regulating the ownership of exotic species because of too many tales like these. After reading Amber the Bobcat's posts & discussing this with my vet, I think that we need to simply vigorously enforce the anti-cruelty laws already on the books. I'm sending TCS {{{prayers and vibes}}} that the rescued caracal be placed in a home where she can live her days in tranquility.
