I'm glad to see that law enforcement in my area is being proactive about this. Although I have to say, this bit just made me cringe:

Law enforcement had to shut down the operation early Sunday morning, March 26th, because it was "too successful". There were too many men still wanting to visit the underage girl and the officers were unable to handle the volume. "That will change", said one officer, "the next time we organize this."

Here's the main page that talks about the whole investigation, has their mugshots, and stories to help parents educate themselves and their teens:

I'm so glad they're cracking down. Throw'm all in jail!!!

The part you quoted is especially ridiculous. There's so many they can't handle the volume?? I'm sure plenty of people would volunteer to help them out! Take a number, please, and wait in line patiently for your arrest!

Thank goodness that there is finally a crackdown on this! And I am so glad that society has changed; 100 years ago, it would have been easy for these perves to find a child bride to keep for his own. A godmother to one of my family members was married at 14 to a man almost 40; supposedly he adored her, but she became an alcoholic - makes you wonder what happened behind those closed doors.

Wanna know something horrible? One of the scumbags who were busted has the same name as my father! Different middle name, but first and last exactly the same.

I think I can understand why they weren't prepared. Even as law enforcement, you don't want to think that there are that many sickos in this part of your own town. What I don't understand is how there were more than 100 officers/authorities involved and they weren't prepared for more than 14 arrests?

The other thing that's really scary is a) the usernames these creeps were using, and b) how short of a time period between the initial chat and when they arrived at the "girl's" house for sex and their arrest. They were obviously trolling for sex with those names. And some of them initiated chat, and were THERE within 2 hours. How many times did they find a young girl who wasn't really a cop?

I am in Utah and they have been cracking down big time.

Did anyone watch the Dateline special? I think its on again this week. Basically they set up a police officer to pose as a little girl to lure in preditors. They scheduled to meet these guys at an abandon house. They wound up arresting 50 men in an hour!! One guy drove up with a bottle of champagne and saw someone else get arrested, drove around the corner until the first guy was gone and then proceeded to enter the house.

What I find so hard to understand is our kids. Mine as well. They have no ideal the information they give out on the internet is giving these perps easy access to information.

I allowed my oldest son to set up a Myspace account with the understanding I was going to review it and monitor the account. Even though I raised him not to give out information, what is the first thing he did. 1. full name
2. address
3. birth date

I was so shocked!!! He knows better but he says that only his friends will have access to his account. That's bull!! We had to show him the back door these people use not only to initiate sex but identity theft as well.

Yikes! But that's the beauty of children...they're so innocent. That's part of the reason why they make easy targets.

It is shocking to think there are such horrible people out there who are predators for children! I'm glad they are cracking down, and hopefully these men will do serious time for their behavior!

I am glad they are cracking down. I know I do some work with Perverted Justice (dateline does all their specials with them) and some of my work has led to my local law enforcement getting some arrests makes me happy to get this scum off the street!
