Amy, I am glad it is finally over. It's time for a new exciting opportunity to come along. You are getting ready to embark on the next chapter of your life. Best of luck on the job hunt. The extra time will allow you to do a little more wedding planning.

Amy, as everyone else has said, I'm glad that part if finally over for you. Now you can move on to bigger and better things.........so many times when we get upset and worried over things that happen in our lives, they are blessings in disguise!

Gosh, 2 weeks? I can't believe they drew it out that long!

Good luck with the job hunt - you'll find something even better, I know it!

Oh how sad and cowardly to fire you over the phone! The LEAST they could've done was come in and done it in person! How rude!

Like everyone else said though now the doors been opened and you can find something less restrictive, and better for you. Hopefully You will be able to keep in touch with former clients and still keep them safe.
Take a few days and relax, then go out full force and let them see they didn't get you down! I wish a great job upon you and until then, a relaxing time in between. I know they are loosing a wonderful person and it's their loss!

I've noticed a lot of people making comments on this. For most companies it's not as easy to fire someone on the spot. The last place i worked for had to gather evidence, such as written and verbal documentation between the employee and the boss, chances for improvement, etc.
One employee didn't show up to work for 3 days, no phone calls or reasons why. It took a good 3 weeks for that manager to mark her "Fired".

I don't know what type of place you worked in before Amy, but if they've had problems in the past for firing someone (being sued for reasons of being fired such as prejudice, medical etc) this would explain why it took so long to fire you.

Good luck on the job hunt, you are a good person who didn't do anything wrong.

They are such horrible people! Karma will get them though...

Thank you SO MUCH everyone for all of your wonderfully kind words of support and encouragement
.
I've been busy this morning....filed for unemployment insurance (
I should know something within 2 weeks or so
), reserved a time (this Monday) to take the typing test required to apply for HR jobs with the county (there's a job open now that I want!!) and did a lot of searching online. Something good is going to happen- I have to believe that. And I am praying hard to be able to forgive the people who did this to me. That is the only way I'll be able to feel better about things.
On the bright side, my dad got (free) tickets for Bradley and I to see Nickel Creek (one of our fave bands) tonight. What timing!

I'm really sorry that it ended that way for you Amy.
I hope you find a new job quickly and that you can unwind a bit seeing Nickel Creek tonight. That was really thoughtful of your dad.

Wow! I must have missed a lot of threads! I can't believe this happened! You are the perfect person to help victims of domestic violence. How on earth could they do this?

I can't help but think that they are hiding this from the higher ups because they know their superiors would not approve (that's why they weren't in on the phone call). I suspect that since they had no cause to fire you, they told their superiors that you quit. That is the way mean people operate. I hope you will at least write a letter to those higher on the chain of command and give them your side of the story. God only knows what they have been told up to this point.

On another note, I hope this turns out to be a good thing for you. Enjoy the concert!

You're certainly better off not working for people who would fire you over the phone. I'm sending good vibes that you get the job with the county, and hope you enjoy the concert!

You are definately better off, Amy! It's too bad that there are people cowardly enough to do something so cruel. Good luck with the job search! I know it can be stressful!
